Head Coach salaries

I found some articles that give an idea of what some of the head coaches in our area are making. Thought it might be interesting:


Bill Self-Kansas $1,100,000
previous Kansas coach, Roy Williams while at Kansas-$590,000+ bonuses that may have paid him as much as $1.2 million.
Roy William's salary at UNC is said to be more than $1.6 mil.
Mike Krzyzewski-Duke $875,000+
(way more if you count the commercials)
Steve Alford-Iowa $850,000
Bo Ryan-Wisconsin $750,000

I also found a quote that said the average salary for MVC coaches this past season was $187,000.

Find out what an NBA head coach makes, and then figure out why guys from college go there to fail in a few years. It's a no-brainer in my mind. I'd deal with those ego-maniacs for 1 year in a heartbeat for that kind of money.

BTW - Coach Les doesn't make as much as he should...but that's part of the 'arrangement'....

I hope Coach Buescher is done 'mulling it over'. I'd like it to be official sooner tha later.

I found this article about Bill Self, and yesterday he was awarded with a raise.
Wonder what they'd have given him if he actually could have beaten Bucknell?

Here is a current (7/2/06) article about coaches' salaries,
and other contract details.
Greg McDermott's contract has an interesting clause that extends the term one year for each year the program might be penalized for prior infractions.
