Acting after an accident caused by a cheerleader falling at Sunday's mens tournament game, the Missouri Valley Conference has banned certain cheerleading stunts from its tournaments.

No "launching" of cheerleaders into the air, and no formations higher than two levels high.

Apparently just for a week though:

The MVC commissioner said cheerleaders won't be allowed to do routines involving people launched into the air or anything more than two levels high this week.

I think this is silly. If someone suffers a serious injury being undercut during a game for example will they then ban jumping?

"The University of Nebraska-Lincoln banned stunts for a while after a cheerleader was badly hurt there. Tracy Jensen sued the university for more than $2 million and won after she was hurt."

"There are no state rules for cheerleaders or their coaches."

How in the hell could she hold the university responsible for her injuries?

She knew that she was at risk for injury before participating in those stunts.
