The chairman of the NCAA tournament selection committee denied that the MVC has risen to its lofty status by "unlocking the secret" to the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), as one reporter proposed on a teleconference Wednesday.

"Well, I think it has more to do with quality coaching and quality players as it has to do with manipulating the RPI or any other one of the tools," Craig Littlepage said.

Another publication says that the MVC will need some wins in the tourney
or their RPI's will be exposed.

I wonder if they'll say the same things if a high seed gets upset? My guess is probably not.
