Josh Tabb, former SIU resruit who did not qualify, had decided to go to prep school, and a couple East Coast prep schools were mentioned as possibilities. Now he has decided to attend one of the newer prep schools, Harmony Prep, of Cincinnati.

Harmony Prep has a loaded roster with many of the top prep players in the country. It might be difficult for Tabb to see much playing time. He might have to play for their "B Team". They actually have a B-Team that is very competetive in national tournaments.

I had never heard of this school, but they are a powerhouse that usually places their entire roster at Division I schools. Here are some news bits about them.

Good luck to Josh Tabb.

This makes at least four different schools Tabb has been at in just over a year (Century, Carbondale, SIU, prep).
He probably hasn't unpacked his suitcase in that span.
It becomes harder and harder for people to see that talent if he keeps one step ahead of them.

was he ever actually at SIU? I thought he didn't qualify, grade-wise.

He didn't qualify and wasn't in classes yet, but was on campus working with the players even as far back as April.
Rumor had it that after workouts & scrimmages with the others on the Saluki team, it was apparent that Tabb saw a lot of his future teammates as significantly superior talent wise.

I have a question--
How did Josh Tabb do this summer on the AAU circuit? Did he participate in any of the numerous showcases that have been held around the country?
Does anyone know if he even played any ball this summer?
If he hasn't played all summer, won't that hurt his stock?
Justin Dentmon shined on the AAU circuit during the summer between his senior year and his year of prep school which led to his getting numerous offers and a scholarship to a Pac 10 school. If he chose not to play AAU this past summer, won't that hurt Tabb?

Here is an update on Tabb and Harmony Prep.
http://scouthoops.scout.com/2/450925.html
"Harmony Community School....... head coach Travis McAvene has plenty of quality guards to go along with the ultra-athletic junior forward.
McAvene will likely go with a three-guard lineup that includes 6-foot-4 Josh Tabb, who signed with Southern Illinois last year but is looking at other options – including Tennessee; 6-foot Indiana-bound point guard Deonte Vaughn and former Bridgton Academy (Maine) standout Tyrone Appleton, who knows a thing or two about winning after winning the NEPSAC Class A title a year ago...."
I predict Tabb will sign with Tennessee as it is the biggest and best offer by far he has received (no offense to SIU)

One of Tabb's teammates at Harmony, and probably the best player on the team, and top scorer, Tyrone Appleton (shooting guard) just got word that he passed his qualifying exams, and he verballed to Virginia Tech.

Latest Josh Tabb update:
Josh has yet to be admitted to University of Tennessee, as a careful review of his transcripts, grades, and course completion has led to the findings of some deficiencies.
Most of the other incoming Tennessee recruits are already on campus, admitted, or working out with the UT staff.
Wayne Chism and Marques Johnson are qualifiers who are already enrolled in the first session of summer school in Knoxville. Duke Crews is expected for the second session, but two of Bruce Pearl's recruits are in "limbo".
Highly touted guard Ramar Smith who had declared for UConn then backed out and re-committed to Tennessee, has yet to receive a qualifying ACT score.
Josh Tabb has not yet been cleared for admission by the UT admissions office. No worry, though. They wouldn't waste a scholarship if they weren't sure they could get the kid qualified.
By the way, word has it that he is as much as two full inches shorter than the 6'4" height that is claimed by press releases from his prep school.
In some other Tennessee news that I am sure the Hillbilly-Deliverance-types are all proud of:
--Tennessee quarterback Jim Bob Cooter had a DUI with a drunken underage babe in the car with him.
http://www.sportsline.com/spin/story/9489457
--Bruce Pearl's son, Steven Pearl, who didn't receive much D-I recruiting intetrest after his senior year in high school, will walk on and play at UT for Bruce Pearl.

http://blogs.foxsports.com/MrVolunteer/2006/05/01/VOLUNTEER_MENS_HOOPS_FUTURE_IS_BIG_ORANGE_BRIGHT_A ND_PEARLY_WHITE
--One of the finalists for the last assistant coaching job under Bruce Pearl is Damon Archibald. But he is drawing some criticism because he was closely tied to the scheduling/recruiting scandal while he was an assistant at Iowa State that led to everyone there including head coach Wayne Morgan being fired. Archibald also recruited under Jerry Tarkanian at Fresno State as well as under recently fired Iowa State head coach Morgan. One quote I found absolutely priceless was this one from Iowa State head coach Wayne Morgan when Archibald was hired there in 2003:
"Damon Archibald has grown up and literally suckled on college basketball," Morgan said."
I guess I'd have to agree.
--UT was rated as being in the top five Worst Uniforms

I don't even know what to say, but I don't think I've ever heard a better/funnier/more rediculous name then Jim Bob Cooter. :)

Not sure on the acadmeic side of things, but Tabb is 6'4. He is still in Carbondale, at least he was as of last week. I saw him with Tatum at a local bar. (Insert joke here)
I am being serious though as to the height and seeing him with JT.

I totally agree. a tremendous name. If he's any good, he'll become a legend with that name. I am willing to bet his family has a history of running moonshine.

I agree. Jim Bob Cooter has been the subject of several of my e-mails and phone calls the last 2 days. I can't quit laughing about it. I called and old freind in Nebraska and asked him if the Huskers had recruited Jim Bob. He is still laughing. I have some freinds from Tennesee in Peoria and they even got the humor.
