Only 2 teams, Bradley and Illinois, made the NCAA tournament that were considered to have hostile and abusive nicknames or mascots. Someone had to drag this issue out again--

i know our main argument is that we only have a name.....no real logo or mascot to speak of, let alone harm anyones feelings.....

does anyone know the ncaa's response to that?

They said after our last appeal that it was not-specific to a tribe, so we won't be able to get a tribe's support... and so I think we'll be made to lose the name, eventually.

Has anyone seen the discussion as to where the nickname "Jayhawk" came into being as relevant to people from Kansas?
It also has ties to anti-Native Americans and savagery and was touched on by Phil Luciano.
