Last summer I was bowling in a tournament somewhere on the southwest side of Chicago. We got done bowling and it was late and everyone was hungry, but there wasn't much open. A guy who works at the bowling alley said there was a Harold's chicken shack not far from there. My friend and I were nominated to go and get Chicken for everybody. We get to Harold's, and it's like midnight, we put in a huge order and sit down to wait for it. In about 5 minutes in walks a young man, very young, very skinny, but pretty tall, taller than me and I'm about 6'3". He's dressed in a full basketball outfit, jersey, shorts, headband, still in his basketball shoes. Being the summer, I asked him who he played for, he said it was his AAU team uniform. He said he played for 2 AAU teams, the Bulls, and the Wolves. Knowing that Bill Cole and Justin Dehm from Richwoods played for the Wolves, I told him that I was from Peoria and asked if he knew those guys. He said yes and said that they were both good players, and that he mostly played backup point guard to Dehm on the wolves. I asked him what high school he played for and he said St Joseph and that he was only a freshman. By this time our food was ready and as I was leaving I asked what his name was, and he said Diamond Taylor. I remembered it because it was a unique name. Just thought I'd share the story. He seemed like a real nice kid.

Oh yeah, I'd been to Harold's several times, just not this particular one. Harold's chicken is the best.

Diamond Taylor, who some analysts rate as the #1 prospect in Illinois for 2009, has reportedly transferred from Westchester St. Joseph to Bolingbrook High School.

Those reports must have been false, as he's playing for St. Joe's on Comcast SportsNet against New Trier. New Trier really has him locked down with their 1-3-1 halfcourt zone.

Taylor has been having a dissapointing season so far, until he had a 32 point performance in a loss recently. Ive seen him like 5 times and havent seen him hit a outside shot.

a couple of CPL kids were in attendance last night and spoke to the coaches at the bench just before going up to their seats.
I could not identify them but none was over 6'.

Hmmm.. maybe there was at least something up with those rumors last year,
because now it appears Diamond Taylor has indeed left Westchester St. Joe's and transferred to Bolingbrook.

I think Wisconsin is handling it just fine...
the kids should learn their lessons.

According to UW's student-athlete discipline policy, Taylor and Glover will be suspended from competition and practice pending the availability of additonal information.

I wonder if these young adults (they are 18 ) will continue having their education paid for after the "additional information" comes out. I certainly hope not.

Both players have been dismissed and Diamond Taylor has left Wisconsin,
according to this report. That means he is back on the market.
He would be a steal for a mid-major...

I think that the college coach would have to know him and have an extra scholarship available to use as a "gamble" scholarship. (high risk=high reward) The coach would also have to sit down and talk to the kid and tell him that this is his last chance and that one more screw up and the kid is gone.

just my 2 cents...

Bradley was willing to give Brandon Lee a chance a few years ago, and this kid is much more talented. But I don't see it happening.
He'll probably go to a juco until his legal issues are resolved, then he'll have a lot of schools after him.

He will be a steal if he doesn't get prosecuted first. I want to know, what was he thinking?????

He did the same thing that Luther Head and a few other Illinois players did but they were able to bribe their way out of trouble, I would want to meet with the kid first and get his side of the story before making any decisions on giving him any scholarship offer, but sometimes kids make mistakes and learn their lessons and keep out of trouble the rest of their lives so I would not just rule him out based on one bad decision.

According to a reliable source- Illinois State and Evansville are the first 2 schools to call and begin recruiting Diamond Taylor!
I guess the criminal activity doesn't bother Jank!
