At this point I dont think true Bradley fans can want this coach to stay.

That's something I'm debating myself. I didn't expect Bradley to win many road games due to the strength of this conference. But to continually lose to the bottom feeders is unacceptable. These loses will ultimately determine if Les survives the season or not.

:( Yes it is time for a change! If you can not motivate a team to win on the road after 4 years it is time for a change!!! I know a lot of people will say he can't shoot for them and that is correct.. Why can't he get them in a position to win a game?
People say if he leaves some of the players will leave also!!! These are the guys that can't win on the road or make the plays to do....I say hire Wayne McClain asap before you are haunted by him being at Illinois State, because Moser is all but gone there!!! Sorry if i hurt someones feelings it business of big time college b-ball that is what the valley wants to be known foris major conference....

JL should go but hiring McClain would be a huge mistake....and thats NOT a rip on him. We need an outsider that is not subject to any BU pressure.
We need a long time D1 assist. with bigtime reccomendations OR a proven D1 coach....PERIOD.
I like Wayne but its NOT time for him.

I would take a proven winner at the DII level as well, like a Bo Ryan or a Jim Whitesell. Rick Herdes is a great one down in Southern Indiana. He's a longtime assistant, and has won nearly 80% of his games since becoming the head coach there 4 years ago. Currently his team is ranked #3 in the country in DII. He's an Illinois native, and regarded as one of the top coaches in all of DII. He's the type of guy I would like to see take over next year.

Wayne is much more qualified now than he was then. However, I agree with you that I don't think BU will look in that direction. I don't really want them to either. Like you, I want someone fresh, from the outside, to build this the right way.
I also don't think Wayne would ever apply again with the current administration. Back in '02 I actually wanted Wayne over JL. Whether not we would have been better is debateable, but I doubt we would have been much worse than 7-28 on the road in conference.

Unfortunately it's time for a change.
RECRUIT TALENT, RECRUIT TALENT and more TALENT. What we need is someone who is proven in recruiting talent to the mid-majors. I'd be fine to give JL one more year to prove himself but if we can get Bob Huggins (He'll cost $$$) then I'd give Jimmy the boot.
JL is still learning. It would have been nice if he would have left the pros and became an assistant right away and learned from a series of coaches to find his style. JL has the makeup to be successful, but do we have the patience to wait?

You right there BB. no way Wayne would be intersted in the job with either KK or Broski still there and I doubt they would talk to him anyway. I like Wayne alot but I didn't think he was right choice either at the time.

SF Pete, this is the most talent BU has had in a decade, so I am not sure what you're looking for. We've got one player who's going to be in the NBA, another who's a surefire pro overseas. Talent is not the issue here, especially when we're losing to teams much less talented than we are. How long do you want to 'wait' while he's learning? Are you happy with mediocrity? If you are then I suppose you're happy with this season and a lower division finish. I am not.

Yeah, I'm torn on this issue. I think that Les is not that good of a coach on the floor at this stage in his career... he does, on the other hand seem to be an excellent recruiter. If there is the promise of improvement in his abilities as an actual basketball coach, then I'm willing to wait this out. If he can keep bringing talent in, then he can eventually mold this program into something better than it's been in a while. On the other hand, if this is the Les of forever, and all he'll ever be is a recruiter, then he needs to get a job somewhere as an assistant.

One change is to reconsider our name. I think the Bradley "20 Minute Wonders" would be a good team name since we usually play very well for about 50% of the game. :(
Not sure how the other teams, like soccer will like the name, but hey, basketball rules this school.

BBrave...your comments combined with that ridiculous picture of a Native American in your avatar are making me think that maybe you are a little "Hostile & Abusive".
You seem depressed about this Jim Les thing...oh, thats oppression? Somebody get this guy a Casino.
Jim Les is a nice guy, there is no doubt about that. But fans (and the administration) expect (should expect) results. Lets let them play the rest of the season out...see if Les being "Mr. Friday Night" pays off and then evaluate.
If something doesn't happen down in the Lou (or by getting deep in the NIT) then it may be time for a switch.
How are we on neutral courts this season? Have we even played on a neutral court yet?

LOVE the avatar 4Life, it's so true! The good ol' boys win again! Hostile and abusive? The NCAA might think so. Dr. Broski might think so. I don't really care.
I like Jim. He's a nice guy. I just don't want him coaching my basketball team anymore. It's not personal, I just don't. I think we can do better in that department.

I was one of the people that was against the hiring of JL as head coach. I think he has done a good job recruiting, and too bad there was no way to originally have gotten him as head coach-in-waiting while having an older coach for him to learn under for a few years.
Its my opinion that 4 years is a solid evaluation period for a coach because it gives the coach a chance to fill the program with his own players, which JL has found some good ones. However, he has the same flaws in his game that he had in year one.
Bradley will have a tough time, as they did last time, in hiring anyone that will be solid because of Bradley's inadequate facilities. I would be in favor of looking at a successful DII coach, or Wayne McClain. I thing Chris Collins from Duke would be a huge hire, however, I don't see him leaving for BU.
Quin will probably be available

There are a number of great DII coaches who could have BU winning again. I can think of 2 within 5 hours of Peoria.
I don't want Quin within 100 miles of this program.

You bet,
And it is to bad. Jim Les is a good man, articulate, loves Bradley, and represents the school well, except as a basketball coach.
Also, They should definitely go after somebody outside the program as the Stan Albeck and Jim Les's tenures have proved.
Also, they should not stop at Les, and I don't mean the assistants!
Except for JiM Delarose,(sic?) who was hired by Ferguson, Bradley is not exactly filling up the trophy cases.

Is there a reason that Coach Lavin isn't in the game yet? It seems like he was fired from UCLA forever ago, and just sticks with his job on ESPN......there is a guy who understands a historic program, has experience, and knows college basketball pretty darn good.
I know its a long shot, but I am a fan, and it would be cool too see him and his slick hair pacing the sidelines at Carver Arena.

What about B.J McCullum, head coach at Lincoln College. He has proved that he can coach. He has received several regional coach of the year awards, his team is perennially in the National junior college Top 10, and he CAN recruit. Remember Marcus Griffin, he is just one in a long list of stud recruits Coach McCullum has landed. He's a local guy from Canton,Il and has several nationwide contacts. He's a good one.
