Eric Gordon -Illinois recruit

Apparently the Indiana compliance officer and some common sense prevailed and the scrimmage with Derrick Rose and Eric Gordon, which had been advertised as open to the public, was instead closed, and not open to anyone but the players. Even Kelvin Sampson was prominently displaying himself outside the arena just to show he was not breaking any NCAA rules by observing his players scrimmage now.

Indiana did get another committment, 6'10" Eli Holman from California--

He averaged 10 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 blocks a game as a junior!

Whatever happened to the unwritten rule that you stop recruiting a kid once he's made a verbal commitment?

Whatever happened to the unwritten rule that you stop recruiting a kid once he has signed a LOI?

I have no lost-love for the Illini.

In fact, I find it quite humourous.

The Elitist team (UIUC) went to the championship game in 2005 and should lock up players easily.

Cry Illini - Cry.

Apparently based on the posts over there by people who claimed to have seen the scrimmage,
Derrick Rose participated in the scrimmage game with IU players but Eric Gordon did not.
Sampson was making himself visible outside the arena so he could say there is no violation
by being present, and then as one would expect, the rest of the entire discussion turns into
IU fans trashing Illinois and a couple Illinois fans wasting their time trying to fight back with logic.
Surely, for a couple immature kids who likely spend only ONE year in college, this is a silly circus.

My vote goes to the Illinois gals.
That one Indiana girl on the right looks like my old English teacher.

I think you need to look at the full picture to get a better idea. Click on the first link for the article - then click on the photo toward the bottom right - then click on News Photos on the new pop up page.

But whatever.

I think a great selling point the guy makes in the article is IU players wearing candy-striped pants.
