News at Boys to Men

tornado

New member
One of the top seniors in the Class of 2006 has now enrolled at Boys to Men.

Leon Freeman was heavily recruited by big schools (Big Ten, Illinois, Michigan State) but had originally decided to go to junior college (likely due to grade issues) but has now changed his mind and is enrolled at BTMA, thus preserving 4 years of college eligibility.

here is some prior discussion about him on BradleyFans
http://www.bradleyfans.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=21344#21344

and an article from just a couple months ago saying he was going to Schoolcraft CC junior college.

Leon Freeman is already impressive according to an article about an early scrimmage for Boys to Men
http://www.chicagohoops.com/articles1/brianstinnette58.html

also there are some nice observations about TJ Marion.

Are the members of the basketball team still the only students at BTM? Or do they have other students now as well?

Leon Freeman is an atheltic, high rising wing who is fun to watch! Rumor has it............Illinois is the frontrunner for his services next year!

Chicago Boys to Men Academy will play on Saturday, November 25th at Robertson Memorial Field House against Humble Christian Life, TX and the nation's number #1 center, DeAndre Jordan.

Holloway was thought to be a lock for DePaul. Many there were already counting him at DePaul next year, and yet this morning it is being reported that Holloway has verbally committed to DePaul's conference rival Louisville.
He had committed to Louisville two years ago, then decommitted and spent two years at prep schools.

Leon Freeman ........

Uh, oh....one time Illinois recruit Leon Freeman, who was doing so well,
and looked so impressive in some outings with Boys
to Men, has left the prep school, and is far short of qualifying.
He now knows his only hope of Division I play will be to enroll in
junior college and hope that route
(which bypasses the high school core requirements and ACT test requirements) can be accomplished.

That Kool and the Gang Academy needs to be shut down. The place is a complete joke. It's a basketball trade school at best. How is it even legal?

There is a premium report available only to Illinois Rivals subscribers.

Here is the exact text...

"One player that transferred to the program this season was 6-foot-4 shooting guard Leon Freeman from Bellevue, Michigan. Freeman had an up and down season before leaving the program. (referring to Boys to Men)

"Leon Freeman is no longer with our program," Jackson said. "He will probably be in junior college next year."

(Jackson is Loren Jackson the head coach at Boys to Men)

also, this is some additional comment..
"Leon Freeman ...he is back home in Michigan and no longer at Boys to Men. Will be at a JUCO next year."
"(Leon has a)...Learning disability...not sure that translates to refusing to get it done in the classroom. ...(He's had)... extreme difficulties ...throughout his life..."

Peoria Lou....send me your e mail address by private message and I will send you more.
If you are interested, I can also send you more info than you'd ever want on a few other BU recruits.
