It's early but here are some interesting RPI notes

Here are some positive and negatives from an early look at rpi, according to realtimerpi.com, which is usually pretty accurate.

positives - Overall, the Valley conference is rated 8th. Not too bad. Also positive is ISU has an rpi of 256 with a stenght of schedule of 341. horrible yet entertaining.

negatives - Bradley isn't much better. rpi of 254 and s.o.s of 275. not very good.......

Everyone but Bradley and ISU has pushed their SoS into the top 150. Well done. Of course, you could argue all these losses help the SoS to create this situation.

As for us, our upcoming Utah/Duke run will change our SoS rather quickly, so I'm not worried.

ISU is, well, ISU.

We are who we are now!! Do not worry about ISU until we play them!! Bashing their schedule is ridiculous!! Let's see who we become as team after this adversity!! We should not wory about anybody but BU!!!!!!!

I care. Please continue talking about MVC. It is indeed highly relevant as it does affect BU. I have even heard whispers that there may be some sort rivalry between BU and ILSU, but that's just heresay at this point...

I'm with ya' amckillip! We're in the same conference, and what ILSt has done with their schedule is flat-out embarrassing to the conference. Look at the result of cupcake scheduling - a 31 pt. home loss last night. Yes, we discuss BU hoops, but bringing up other teams in the Valley is relevant conversation on this board, as 2/3 of our season had to do with other Valley teams.

That's great to hear (the Valley SOS and RPI that is), but that still doesn't change the fact that we are still probably a one bid conference again this year. UNI beating Iowa St. last night helps their cause, but we really needed at least a split against the two top 25 MWC teams that beat us last night. As we have seen the previous few years, finishing 8th or lower does nothing to help the Valley's cause for multiple bids unless the contenders actually beat some of these teams. WSU beat Virginia and UNI beat Iowa St. Hopefully, if those are the top two finishers in the Valley, that Virginia and Iowa St. have great years. Then we may actually have a chance for multiple bids.

Yeah, BU's SOS will go WAY up after next week. ISU is a lost cause though! They should be absolutely ashamed of themselves! And they should be thankful they actually had a great team on their schedule last night by shear luck of the draw. And it showed big time by virtue of their embarassing showing!

And with Montana State, Ohio, Illinois-Chicago and UNC-Wilmington coming up in next 4 games for ISU, I bet their RPI and SOS actually go up!!! How could it get any worse?

Why would Bradley fans not care about the other teams in the conference? It only makes sense most of that is directed towards our rival. I will never understand why the "I don't care about other teams" line gets used at all!

Me too. If you didn't talk about ISU I'd have no reason to come here.

Keep it comin' BU fans!

I don't think you have too much to worry about... I don't see us stopping the hyper-critical opinions of ILSU any time soon. The schedule I think really is and has been that bad, but overanalyzing other things will surely continue.

And I wouldn't want it any other way...

(the rivalry, not the sked)

Because ISU's schedule badly hurts the Valley RPI every year. One team scheduling like this could be the difference between one or multiple bids in a given year. It's that simple.
