Truth about Jeter?

So was the earlier thread that had a conflicting story about Jeter deleted because it was found to be bs?

My guess would be it directly gave away salary and contract length considerations which you don't want public when you are negotiating.

There was different and conflicting info, some of which was obviously either untrue, or impossible to confirm.

If I had read that article, without the context of Kaplan or this board's negativity towards the admin (warranted or not)...I would have come away with the conclusion that this guy feels a sense of loyalty to his players (commendable), comfortablility in a city, job, and league in which he just shared a regular season title (understandable).

Only when I'm prompted to "RBTL" do I come up with anything sinister.

I agree.

There should be a thread where all rumors are allowed to stay. I've seen a lot of posts getting deleted that I'm glad I saw when I did.

The best part about boards like this one is that we can read 2nd hand knowledge and "word on the street" items that aren't published in mainstream media. I'd rather read 30 untrue or half-true rumors than threads that only allows posts with links to pjstar.com articles and tweets from Dave Kaplan.

those were NOT rumors, they were reported in legitimate media..
anyway -- go back and read the rules carefully -- the players and the coaches are covered by those rules but they say nothing of administration or other employees.

if you wish to post something in defense of "the administrations" feel free to -- but it is becoming more and more clear via widely known facts that the problem and the reason 7 candidates have turned BU down is precisely where, apparently, you don't want it to be...

Yep, I was certain it would circle back around to this and you would be the one to start it...

Guess while you're at it, you might as well blame JG for the tsunami, Gaddafi, and why Barry Bonds took steroids

One of the moderators told me my post did not violate the rules. The subsequent replies to the post were the reason the thread was deleted.

So in that spirit, I'll repost what I wrote last night.

I made some inquiries today and talked with someone (not at Bradley) who has direct knowledge of the Jeter offer. According to them, nearly everything reported so far has been wrong.

Bradley offered Jeter a five year deal at $450,000 per year. I don??™t know where the $700,000 figure came from. If BU offered that to someone, it wasn??™t to Jeter.

Jeter had three years remaining on his contract at Wisconsin-Milwaukee. UWM didn??™t want to lose him and countered with a three year extension. No word if a salary bump was included.

Jeter then asked Bradley for a seven year contract but the university declined. BU did not want to enter into an agreement longer than five years.

I asked if the Bradley administration was a factor in his decision. No. Jeter never mentioned the president or the administration as a reason in not taking the job. The two extra years were the only sticking point.

Sounds like Jeter didn't want leave. he was just stroking his ego. let's keep in mind no one knows for sure if was offered the job. so no one knows if anyone at the school was responsible for any debacles associated with it.

I wrote a letter to the trustee chairman in support of the JL decision and got a respnse back. They need to know just as many (if not more) support the decision than don't.

Though a lot of stuff may never get released publically, I can say that some pretty high-up sources that have a track record of being 100% accurate tell me Jeter was offered the Bradley job and declined. But there will always be some who choose to believe otherwise, or believe only what the publicists put out.

And the administration did try to gauge the sentiment of the fans and donors, and what they found out was that the huge majority supported giving Jim Les another year. Again, there will be those who choose not to believe that, but I suggest they contact anyone at Bradley- it's open knowledge.

I don't understand the big interest in Jeter. His record is no great improvement over JL.

Doesn't that make you want to question the administrations ability at qualifying candidates for this great position/opportunity.

Jeter....geez.....is Pat Knight still available........
