Stewart and Abell...

There was bad weather in the southern part of Illinois so there were a lot of no-shows, and I don't mean fans...many players simply didn't make it to play...and one report said no Bradley recruit was there -- which means BOTH Donivine and Remy were among the no-shows.....

here's what I can gather from a few sources......

In the St. Louis area East vs. West game, the East had only 5 players so they had to be gassed...but they won 112-111......some big names - Chasson Randle, Nnanna Egwu were N/A -- as was Butler signee Roosevelt Jones.
SIU recruit Treg Setty had 18 for the East while SIU recruit Dantiel Daniels had 38 for the West.
Other scorers...
East- Tennessee recruit Martez Harris 26, Kendall Anthony 26 (Richmond recruit), Bruce Barron also added 22 as he played in both all-star games.

I saw one note that Remy's teammate Lyonell Gaines from Louisville Eastern might be having thoughts of backing out of his IUPUI commitment now that head coach Ron Hunter has left...

In the Missouri vs. Illinois All Star Game - the Missouri Stars won 103-90, as the Illinois team also had a lot of no-shows and had only 6 kids dressed including a couple from Brehm Prep.
Brehm Prep's Bruce Barron had 21 - playing his 2nd full game, DuQuoin's Connor Wheeler had 18 for the losing Illinois squad.

if anyone else has any accounts let us know...but Remy & Donivine were not there....

The results of Kentucky's Mr. Basketball voting are in and the 2011 Kentucky Mr. Basketball is a bit of a surprise, Anthony Hickey...who is unsigned and not recruited very heavily...and was hardly even in the mentions as a candidate in the running...

..not saying he isn't deserving...but almost all the pundits had the race down to Louisville signee, 5-Star Chane Behanan, and Remy Abell -- who many saw as the bast player in the state this year!

They do not release the results of the voting -- so nobody knows who voted for who and who came in 2nd or 3rd....
..but the other names who were expected to get votes were George Fant (Western Ky), DeVante Parker, and Tim Tripp....the voting was done privately via all the state's high school head coaches, and it is well known there is a bias...with the numerous smaller high schools outside of Louisville & Lexington -- routinely favoring the smaller school candidates and not voting for the big city kids....this hurts the big city kids because even though half the population lives in the bigger cities, those high schools in the big cities are far larger and yet their coaches still only get one vote...thus 80-90% of the votes come form the small school coaches.

Mr Basketball in Ky is about as political/school driven as it gets. The Blues won out this year, and were by no means letting another Mr. bball go to UofL. Everything I have heard about Remy from my people in Louisville says hes a fantastic player, and Behanon is a McD AA, so yeah, tough to get around the ridiculous voting on this one.

According to Hickey's Rival's page, he's recieved offers from SIU, Miss St, Nebraska, TCU, and a couple others.

I'm not sure I'd call that not heavily recruited.

I was going on the actual articles that are current on Hickey right now in the newspapers...and he has nowhere near the recruiting some other candidates had..
-- as several sites in Kentucky are talking to the kid and interviewing him...
and they say he is unsigned, and is just hearing from those schools....so those "offers" may have a few strings attached....

It is also being reported that he hasn't even taken a single visit...and he's hoping for more offers to come...
"Whatever comes will come, but it will be out there pretty soon where I'm going."

I just searched Remy Abell under real time updates on google and it came up with 3 tweets posted within a day that say he is asking for his release?? It looks like it might be Butler people. It doesn't appear a lot of people follow these guys, it was like in the 200-500 range I believe, but then again I don't know much about twitter either. Is this true?

Here are the tweets:

Coogles‎ "@Title_BU: Remy Abell is asking for his release. Abell is Kameron Woods' teammate." Yes, please. Get him an offer Brad!

Title_BU‎ Remy Abell is asking for his release, if Butler so chooses. Abell is Kameron Woods teammate at Eastern.

FlyerHoops‎ I'm hearing that Louisville Eastern's Remy Abell will be asking for release from Bradley. Potential target for new #DaytonFlyers coach.

Nothing really new but this is what I found out there. http://www.kentucky.com/2011/03/25/1683663/mike-fields-notebook-titles-for.html

"Eastern star Remy Abell was headed to Bradley, but that was before Coach Jim Les was fired. Abell could still end up at Bradley if he likes the new coach. In the meantime, schools who originally recruited the 6-4 guard ??” Penn State, Indiana, Wright State and Marshall ??” are back in the picture. Also showing interest are West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State and Gonzaga."

but how can this be?? By agreement with every school who uses the National Letter of Intent..they can NOT recruit the kid nor contact him while still under the letter that's signed

Come on T, you know better, these kids all have handlers.

Remy will be playing in the Kentucky vs. Ohio ALL-STAR basketball game Saturday April 9th at 7:30 PM. Remy will be joined by two of his high school teammates Lyonell Gaines who will be attending IUPUI and Kameron Woods who is signed with Butler. Best of luck to Remy and still hope to see him on the hilltop this coming season.

Looks like Remy Abell was the high scorer in the Kentucky-Ohio All Star game last night. The Kentucky team lost to the Ohio team as Remy had 20 points.-
