an NCAA rules committee has recommended that the NCAA use the arc beneath the rim to aid in charging calls...just like the NBA and Europe (FIBA) use..

They also recommend moving the women's 3-pt arc back a foot!!!
http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect...ules+committee+recommends+restricted+area+arc

and get this -- here's what they say....
since most floor have lines already at the 20 ft - 9 in distance for the men --
studies were done counting the attempts and makes from 19-9 (but inside 20-9)
..and likewise from beyond 20-9..and here's what they say...

"Data collected ......
..showed most of the attempts and makes came from behind the 20-foot, 9-inch line.

..teams were 1,046 of 3,203 (33 percent) from behind the 20-foot, 9-inch line.
..teams were 546 for 1,823 (30 percent) between 19 feet, 9 inches and 20 feet, 9 inches."

so they say women are already for the most part using the 20-9 line and doing just fine - even better - from there than the 19-9 line!

They also proposed a 10 second back court rule (how many knew the NCAA has no such rule in women's basketball?)
..and an arc under the basket
