Meanwhile almost ALL college athletic departments are struggling and all but a handful are LOSING money and balancing their budgets by using taxpayers' money.
This flies ion the face of the silly claims we hear from some who say their athletic departments (like at ISU or SIU) are self-sufficient and making money.

How 'bout that Vandy job? Yeah, now there's a "powerhouse".

Many of those coaches had certain bonus clauses and could possibly be making a lot more - and those AD's with a long history on the job generally were the ones (especially in bigger conferences) earning the big bucks

Vandy's athletic dept is completely different than any other set up in all of college sports. Vandy technically doesn't even have an athletic dept, as the university's Division of Student Life is the administrating body for it. And that is where the difference comes from. The Division of Student Life oversees all student activities / organizations.

Vandy is the smallest SEC school and also the only one that is a private university.
