4 MVC games Wednesday 1/25

It's looking like we may have a four way tie for third at 5-5! That's pretty pathetic beyond the top two teams in the conference. It's good to have parity, but not when just two out of ten teams have an above .500 conference record! Oh well. Barring a collapse by CU or WSU, the Valley will at least still have two teams going to the Big Dance this year.

And this may hurt CU's and WSU's seeding in the NCAA Tournament as well. I hope someone else can win at 11 games in the conference, but I got a bad feeling 10 wins will be enough for third place this year.

It might hurt there seed, but if there were 2 other teams with 11 or 12 wins, then WSU and CU wouldnt have as many wins as they will end up with. That would hurt their seed worse IMO. As of now, they are both firmly "in" the field of 65. If the conference was "more balanced" there would be more teams in consideration but less locks to get in (not that either are locks, but should be in unless they fall on their face). 3-4 teams in the discussion usually means the NCAA has a chance to screw the Valley again by "the eye test" or some other crap and only put 1 team in.

Best case scenario is for CU and WSU to run away with the MVC and both lose in STL to get 3 teams in.

It won't. Think of when The Drake got a 5 seed when they went nuts for a year.

The middle of this conference is a mess. If nothing else, the case of the MVC is very solvent. No NIT representation would sting slightly though. We're going to flood the EIEIOs this year.

Yeah, I want to say there was a similar year about 7 or 8 years ago where CU and SIU ran away ahead of the pack and both made the NCAA Tournament, while no teams made the NIT. This will probably happen again this year unless someone steps up to win 11 games really quick.

You are right TAS that maybe the seeding of CU and WSU won't be affected by the teams in the Valley either. Both CU and WSU should get some decent seeding just based on their non-conference records alone.

but I think it was shaping up this way long ago -- with clearly two good teams atop the MVC and everyone else battling for 3-10th...
Right now SIU is one game out of 3rd place, and the team thought by most to be the best candidate for 3rd was Indiana State - they're in 9th and may be the only team left BU has a hope to catch

Made more difficult last night with Indiana St. all but putting UNI out of their misery!
