In past yuears the MVC has announced their Player of the Year, All Conference Awards, and some of the other awards such as Freshman of the Year and Newcomer of the Year on the Tuesday before the tournament. So, though there has been no announcement yet, it may come today.

Here were the preseason picks-

Preseason Player of the Year- Doug McDermott, Creighton

Preseason First Team All Conference- Doug McDermott, Creighton (Pre-Season Player of the Year), Colt Ryan, Evansville, Jackie Carmichael, Illinois State, Jake Odum, Indiana State, Ben Simons, Drake

Preseason Honorable Mention All Conference- Gregory Echenique, Creighton, Anthony James, UNI, Carl Hall, Wichita State, Seth Tuttle, UNI

I expect the post season award to be the same for POY, and for the first 3 of the First Team All Conference will be the same. There could be a possibility of a new name moving into the first 5, such as Tyler Brown or Walt Lemon (both finished in the top 5 in scoring).

I think the Freshman of the Year could be interesting, as there are no clear cut favorites. My guess is Marcus Marshall of Missouri State, who was the leading scorer among freshmen, and the only freshman to average double digits.
Newcomer of the Year should go to Cleanthony Early, though Desmar Jackson also had a good year and actually had a higher scoring average, though he will be hurt by playing for the last place team. Manny Arop, Malcom Armstead, and Tyshon Pickett also had good years.
IMO, Coach of the Year will likely go to Greg McDermott. Even though everyone expected Creighton to win the MVC, I suspect not many of the voters want to vote for Gregg Marshall.
I think Dyricus Simms-Edwards has a good chance to be the Defensive MVP. Greg Echenique won last year, and will get some votes, but he did not have as good a year this year.
Jordan Prosser seems a good possibility for a spot on the All Bench team.
6th Man Award- ?

I had hoped Dave Reynolds would reveal his selections..

For MVP, McDermott got 35 1st place votes, Colt Ryan got 4 and Carl Hall got 1..

Interesting- each team gets 4 votes- 2 media people (broadcast and beat writer), coach, and AD. And they can't vote for their own team's players for POY, I believe. So 4 of the 5 votes that didn't go to McDermott were the Creighton voters. So 1 voter who could have voted for Doug McDermott, didn't.
