Bradley's RPI

Re: Bradley's RPI

Not sure how it happens, but even in the past couple days without playing, Bradley's RPI has jumped!

From JPalm (collegerpi.com) on the RPI formula:

The basic formula is 25% team winning percentage (WP), 50% opponents' average winning percentage (OWP), and 25% opponents' opponents' average winning percentage (OOWP).
Beginning with the 2004-05 season, the formula was changed to give more weight to road wins vs home wins. A team's win total for RPI purposes is 1.4 * road wins + neutral site wins + 0.6 * home wins. A team's losses is calculated as 0.6 * road losses + neutral site losses + 1.4 * home losses.

So even though a team does not play, if their opponents and opponents' opponents play - it can change a teams rpi ranking.

Also, if BU is 130, and the 131st team wins on the road at the #1 rpi team, guess what.... BU is gonna drop at least one spot without playing.

collegerpi.com only updates each Monday, unless you pay for subscription services, and they had BU at RPI 180 on Monday

Jerry Palm's site, collegerpi.com, has Bradley at 129 after games played thru Wed night.

He updates his site early morning - daily for subscribers. I suggest everyone subscribing to his site. It is not very expensive at all - 20 bucks. He has great info there. His historical info is useful as well.

BU's RPI probably took a hit tonight with Tennessee Tech's home loss to lowly Eastern Illinois. Man, Eastern can go down there and get a win and we can't? Uggh.

But note that the SOS of the Valley as a conference is now at #6 among all conferences.
At the same time, some other conferences such as C-USA, MWC, and even the Big Ten have dropped significantly in SOS as they continue to play silly patsies like Indiana vs Western Illinois, Wisconsin playing Florida International, Michigan vs. Wofford,
Houston playing Prairie View A&M (this is a total laugher!), and
New Mexico now playing Longwood, NC A&T, Alcorn St., and Charleston Southern in succession.

Yeah this bugs me as well. How can BU not come out of there w/ a victory if we are to consider them tourney worthy come March??

How do you think Florida fans feel..... "Man, Bradley and Northwestern beat Depaul? How can we think we can repeat as NCAA champs if we can't come out of Chicago with a victory?"

Dang lunch break - trying to rush.

Yes - Kansas.

But Florida fans can feel bad too.... for losing to Kansas, who lost to Depaul, who lost to Bradley, who lost to TennTech, who lost to Eastern Illinois.
