For those who did not have a chance to listen, here is what I heard-
Coach Wardle joined Greg & Dan at 8:43 am. They talked about his recruiting being successful so far, and getting the players he wanted. Coach Wardle seemed to suggest that recruiting to Bradley is relatively easy, because of what Bradley has to offer academically, outstanding facilities, and his vision for the success of the team. They talked briefly about the success that DLO has had playing for his British Under-20 team in Europe (Dan was well informed about this- he must be reading our message board!).
Coach Wardle outlined the players' daily routines, which start with early weight lifting, and include study tables and meals together, as well as workouts on the court. He gave credit to the assistants, the trainer, the weight/conditioning coach, and the academic tutor.
Dan asked Coach Wardle to name a couple players who have stood out. Coach was reluctant to single out players by name, but then he did say he was most impressed by Antoine Pittman's energy and work ethic, and by the effort and improvement he's seen in Donte Thomas and Warren Jones. Those were the only 3 he mentioned.
Then there was a long commercial break that lasted from 8:49 to 8:57. Then, in the final 2-3 minutes before the show ended at 9:00 am, Coach Wardle talked briefly about the success of his summer camps, his acceptance by the Bradley and Peoria community, and the success of the Tradition luncheon.
It was great to hear Coach Wardle on WMBD. I wonder if this will be the format again for a weekly show starting in the fall. From a fan perspective, I would like to hear Coach Wardle for a longer time (considering the 7-8 minute commercial break, he was only on the air for no more than 8-9 minutes total), and maybe when the season comes, include questions from fans via text or email.
