This is the first game of the 2015-16 season for both Bradley and the Edgewood College Eagles, who are an NCAA Division III program.
Edgewood College is a small (about 2,000 undergrads and 500 post-grads), private, Catholic college located in Madison, Wisconsin.
Edgewood has one other thing in common with Bradley. They were listed in the Princeton Review as one of the "Best in the Midwest" for 2016.
They were 14-13 overall last season, and 12-8 in the NACC (Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference).

They finished in 4th place in the NACC last season.

Their roster includes 20 players, only 3 of which are seniors-

Here are their stats from last season (2014-15). Their top 5 scorers were all seniors, who have graduated.-
http://www.edgewoodcollegeeagles.com/custompages/Statistics/mbball/2014-15/teamcume.htm

Their top returning scorer is Dylan Heemstra, a 6'4" guard who started 26 of 27 games and averaged 5.6 ppg. He is also the only returning starter from last season.

One other starter from last year, Jake Heuer, a 6'4" junior forward who started 23 games last season and averaged 5.1 ppg, did not return to the team this year.

They have usually been a strong 3-point shooting team in past seasons, but most of their perimeter scorers from last season are no longer with the team this season. Their player turnover combined with their lack of size and experience may make it difficult for them to score this season.

Based on last year's stats and minutes played, here is my guess for possible starters:
Dylan Heemstra- 6'4" senior guard (5.6 ppg, 2.8 rpg last season, 27% from three)
Trevon Ampe- 6'6" junior forward (5.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg last season)
Emilio Lopez- 6'2" senior guard (4.5 ppg last season, 40% from three, returning assists leader)
Adam Freitag- 6'1" junior guard (4.0 ppg, 39.3% from three last season)
Devin Graf- 6'7" junior center (tallest player on the roster, only played in 1 game last season)

The rest of their roster is very inexperienced and played very little last season. They have 8 freshmen, but there is little information available about them and whether they are expected to contribute this season.

Edgewood is coached by Justin Meyer in his 4th season-

One curious coincidence- the last time Edgewood College played a Division I school in an exhibition game was at the start of the 2010-11 season when they played Wisconsin-Green Bay. The head coach of UWGB that season was also Brian Wardle in his first season at UWGB.

Edgewood is not a very athletic team. I don't see how they can hang with Bradley's superior athletes for 40 minutes, unless they go crazy from the perimeter. And from what I can see, this year's Edgewood team may not be a great shooting team, and they seriously lack size.
So even though Bradley may be the youngest and most inexperienced team in all of D1, and they may not be a good shooting team either, I think they still will outscore and outrebound Edgewood and win what could be an ugly game.
I predict a score of 62-43

It's looking more certain that Bradley will start 5 freshmen in the exhibition game Wednesday.
Donte Thomas, who may be a starter most games, has been suspended 1 game for a rules violation, and will not play. The starters, as noted, are likely to be:
Joel Okafor
Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye
Luuk van Bree
Ronnie Suggs
Callum Barker

Anyone know why the planned ESPN3 broadcast was cancelled?

It would be interesting to know how many times a DI team has ever started FIVE FRESHMEN

Also - wonder if it's ever happened where a college team started five players from FIVE DIFFERENT countries of origin (Nigeria, England, Netherlands, Australia, US)

Well the Fab Five from Michigan obviously comes to mind. Five different countries though, wow, that might be a first.

did all five of the Fab Five start their first game?

..edit...found the answer--
only three of the Michigan "Fab Five" started their first game as freshmen, and all five did not start together until Feb. 9 of their freshman season

Did Kentucky start 5 freshman?

Yes- in the 2013-14 season, but not right off the bat...
by the end of the season and into the NCAA Tournament - they were starting five freshmen regularly
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...all-freshman-starting-5-to-michigans-fab-five

their first time starting five freshmen was Nov. 17, 2013 - the fourth game into the regular season..

I still think this has to be a first in college basketball - with five freshmen starting the very first contest they have ever played in college - albeit an exhibition.

GAME DAY
Gotta be exciting for the entire team & coaching staff!!!!

Very entertaining game to watch.....like what some of the player's bring to the table.....there will be ups and downs but it will be fun because the effort is there! And the new seats in upper bowl seem bigger and more comfortable than the previous!

if someone wants in with nice season tix in the lower bowl now is the time to make your move before people snarf up what's left...

Scout article on the Edgewood game
http://www.bradleyscout.com/sports/mens-basketball-knocks-around-edgewood-college-in-78-42-win/

This is good coverage - fair and covers the positives as well as the negatives like 15 turnovers & poor 3-pt shooting...
Barker confirms that he likes real physical play

"Callum Barker led all Braves with 15 points and notched a double-double by
pulling down 10 rebounds as well.

???I feed off physicality,??? Barker said. ???I??™m always happy if the other big on the
other team wants to push me around a bit. That helps me get into the game
and get me started.???
