27%. That's amazing. Their offense would be better if the whoever dribbled it up the court would just shoot it every time.

We keep saying the team can't get worse. And then they get worse.

Missouri State is one of the worst teams we have played all year and they come to our home court and dominate us. Our interior defense is below average at best. Some of this is due to being young and physically weak as freshmen. It is also due to poor basic defensive fundamentals and very slow footwork.

As for shooting, our shooting has been bad from the first day of the season. Yes, we shot badly from the floor last night, but we have all year. This is nothing new. If we make 4 more baskets we still only shoot 36% for the game (our season average) and still lose by double digits to a bad basketball team.

Our ball handling is so bad, the coach has been forced to walk the ball up the floor and run time off the clock in our half court offense, to reduce turnovers. He's had no choice.

Suggs may have had a good game, but he is no point guard. He looked like he was trying to creep up on the defenders. Then he stood out there with the ball and then with 8 seconds left on the shot clock everyone panicked.

What other options do we have? He doesn't make foolish turnovers and he gets the ball to the open man. He's the best we have at getting the ball to our post players. He guards the other teams best perimeter player and has held them below their scoring average. I'm sure he would love to go back to his natural 2 guard position but he is stepping up to the challenge because that's what his coach has asked of him and what his team needs from him. He has played a ton of minutes and hasn't backed down one bit. The team works hard but we are just lacking experience and a few key pieces. We all are frustrated but I'm sure none of us are more frustrated than the kids and the coaching staff.

You are right. I was impressed to see him step up to his task, and his coach rewarded him.

Yes, it is obvious to see the frustration, but I thought after the "upset" in Loyola that we would come out very strong. Instead, we were baffled. They weren't afraid of our outside shooting and had no reason to be. However, I will say:

All what we have seen so far of this team, is what we should have been ready for. You don't clean house, play first year players and aspect the play, the sates and the wins to be anything but what we have. It is what it is. Now as the season moves on and surely by season end, we should see improvement and have a pretty good idea what players will be able to play at this level.
