Congrats Walt!! He deserves the call up for sure, hopefully he is given a chance to stick with the Pelicans or on another team.

Pelicans are on a bit of a slide - lost 4 of their last 6....must think they need some depth in the backcourt - and they had an open roster spot open so they don't need to cut or send anyone else down.

If Walt Lemon, Jr. gets into an NBA game, he will be the 20th Bradley guy to play in the NBA (he will actually be the 21st if you count Danny Granger, but this site counts him as a New Mexico player).
Here are all the previous 19 Bradley guys to have played in the NBA-
https://www.basketball-reference.com/friv/colleges.fcgi?college=bradley

Bradley has had more NBA players than any team in the MVC, including any past team that has been a part of the MVC in the past 40+ years.

I think Danny Granger counts - we recruited him & developed him into an NBA talent....
several others like Zach Andrews - came close and several of the early guys like Paul Unruh, Bobby Joe Mason could have played in the NBA but salaries were low and not guaranteed, and those guys had other options...
Then we had a #1 NBA Draft pick who never played due to politics...AND HOW MANY COLLEGE BASKETBALL PROGRAMS CAN CLAIM AN NFL PLAYER?

and how about this guy - shouldn't he count?

Congratulations Walt!!
He is 1-0 in his career in the NBA...
The Pelicans solidify a playoff spot with a 124-123 win over Miami.
Walt played four minutes, did not score but picked up an assist to fellow Chicagoan Anthony Davis.

Walt's team will be on national TV tonight- the New Orleans Pelicans play at the Los Angeles Clippers at 9:30 PM Central on TNT Network.

In addition to Walt, former Bradley baseball star, who lead the country in batting average his senior season (2013), Mike Tauchman, is also on TV tonight. His team, the Colorado Rockies are on at 7:40 PM Central on the MBL Network playing the Seattle Mariners in the Mariners' spring training home of Peoria, Arizona.
Tauchman is getting plenty of playing time this spring as he tries to make the major league roster. He is batting .364 so far in 10 spring training games (22 at-bats) with a .481 OB Percentage. It will be tough as the Rockies are loaded with good outfielders, including Charlie Blackmon, who lead the National League in batting last season.

Tauchman has had a successful minor league career so far in the Colorado system, and batted .331 at Triple AAA Albuquerque last season (he finished 3rd in the Pacific Coast League).

He hit .308 in a brief call-up to the Rockies late last season

Mike Tauchman was 1 for 3 in the game, hit a triple, drove in 1 run and scored another to lead the Colorado Rockies to a 3-2 win over the Seattle Mariners.

The Pelicans-Clippers game is in the 2nd quarter and Walt Lemon has not played yet.

Walt may get a large number of minutes tonight. Playing without Anthony Davis, the pelicans are down 20 to start the fourth. If you have NBA TV (216 on directv) then you can watch him play some garbage minutes. He isn??™t part of the normal rotation otherwise.

Walt's 2nd 10-day contract expired - and by rule he was sent back and is with his G-League team again -
the only other option - that the Pelicans might sign him for the rest of the season - did not happen...

the G-League hands out their awards before their season is even over - just so they get some press but don't step on the NBA media coverage as they head into the playoffs.

Anyway - since Walt Lemon played some two years ago in the G- League, he was not eligible for the G-League Rookie of the Year voting, which went to the Windy City Bulls' Antonio Blakeney- despite only playing in 32 games for the Windy City Bulls (out of 50 games).

Nor did Walt Lemon win the G-League's "Most Improved" Award - which went to one of Walt's Ft. Wayne Mad Ants teammates, DeQuan Jones....
but Walt is still considered by many to be a leading contender for the G-League MVC Award- which will be announced later this week or early next week.
