Drake broadcaster dies

Larry Cotlar, a longtime sports broadcaster in Des Moines who did Drake basketball games, was killed last night in the flash flooding that hit the city after some areas got 10 inches of rain.

I don't know if I know how to post links to this forum, but here's an early tribute column from a Des Moines sportswriter.

My sympathies to his family, friends, and the Drake community.

My son is a Drake graduate and currently lives in Des Moines. He said that Cotlar was highly respected by the Drake community and will be sadly missed. Our prayers and condolences to his family and the entire Drake community.
