BU Scout article about BradleyFans.com

Kudos to the founders of this board and their willingness to take action, at some personal risk of being embarrassed if it didn't work I imagine, to create something that they believed was needed. Their vision proved to be spot on with reality and many of us long-distance BU fans have found a place to reconnect with the school after years of being remotely attached.

Just as importantly, they have successfully managed this board in a way that has stayed true to that vision. Anyone who is a parent knows that raising the baby is a lot harder than the steps needed to give birth.

If the BU Scout wants to do a truly investigative piece ... well, I won't go there.

DB-- I think it was a given that BradleyFans.com would be a success, if for no other reason than this:
Even if only ONE fan used this site and enjoyed it, I still think it would have been successful and an important step to give the BU fans what they deserve. The previous lack of a fan site for Bradley left a huge vacuum.

Now there is a choice-- a message board with thousands of posters (most of whom never post, have been banned, or have forgotten their password) who are all at each other's throats and making the place intolerable to actually be a Bradley afficionado,

or this board with information and discussion for Bradley fans, that will keep growing, and already hitting 3 million page hits a month (comparable with and actually more than many of the BCS schools' sites).

3 Million! WOW!

I actually had no idea this site existed until I read it in the Scout. I am actually excited that for once I read something usefull in that paper.

Tell your BU fan friends! I meet people nearly every day who follow Bradley and didn't know about the site, so there are a lot more out there.

Last night at the game at Redbird Arena, I ran into quite a few Bradley students, and while talking we brought up the topic of BradleyFans.com.
Several of them told me they had just seen the story about BradleyFans.com in the BU Scout, so it must have reached a lot of students.
But I found that many of those millions of page hits are like these students....they just log on and read and never post for fear that their lack of expertise or familiarity will embarrass them.

But forget that!! We're all friends and fellow BU fans here.
Get logged on a post anyway. Soon you will see your posts are a valuable contribution to BradleyFans, and will help fuel the enthusiasm that is building for Bradley basketball.

Great point T! In fact, bulletin boards are a great way for people to develop more confidence in taking a stance in private or in public by giving them an anonymous forum as a test bed to present and explain (if you care to) what they actually think on topics. Drive-by-shootings aren't allowed, so everyone will respect what you have to say whether they agree or disagree with your post. Over time, they will develop more confidence becasue they'll realize that a lot of us are a bunch of hot air bags and that they, in fact, do know more than us! (present company excluded) :D

Hey what's up guys?

I'm happy to see that the article is actually being talked about. The article is actually written by my roommate "Blinkie", and I'm the one student who was brought up in the article. We are both frequent visitors to the site and have been since the start of last season. I am happy to see that the article is able to bring new visitors to the site. I know that was Adam's goal when writing the piece.

Go Braves

Thanks LP 12!

I met a couple guys at the game down in ISU who said they are on this board all the time but have never posted, were either of 'em you?

I wish we could get more participation out of the students too.

[I hope they aren't afraid of me - someone once jokingly called me The Message board Bully - I am really an easy-going guy. 8) ]

Hey tornado I was not one of the people you spoke to last night.

As for myself, I read this forum numerous times each day. I usually just post about my game experiences. I usually don't post any statistical type things because, well becuase all the statistics I would use I get right from this board. HAHA!

In just the week or so since I found out about Bradleyfans site I have learned more about the team, players, and the whole league by reading the past postings,
than I have learned in the paper in the last 10 years combined.
Great site, keep up the good work.
