March dudness

I think the CBS broadcasters on selection sundays critizism of the "questionable" selections and how its causing the tournament to lose its bread and butter is starting to come to form. Least on this first day. Of the 17 games so far, only 4 have been within 10 points. I don't remember so many easily won games last year on the first couple days.

Today the one team who absolutely didn't deserve a bid proved it - Stanford got absolutely massacred by Louisville. I don't care where the game was played, they were an embarrassment.

Committee's idea: keep as many of the strong "mid-majors" out replacing them with beatable mid-low division teams from "big" conferences ensures no higher seed big conference teams get beat by a mid-major! Also helps to ensure no mid-majors get into the Sweet 16 so the real big tourney dollars go to the BCS schools. Simple plan and easy to see through... problem is the simple-minded masses believe everything the talking heads (Packer, Digger, etc.) say and think the world must revolve around the so-called (and self-proclaimed) power conferences. Next year let's hear it for the Big Mideast Conference (formerly known as the MVC). Gotta put "east" in the conference name somewhere for instant recognition of greatness and superiority!

It also means that fans become non interested with the games when several of them are blowouts early which in turn can hurt ratings ; VCU"s win proved Bradley was one of the top 65 teams as they beat Duke on a nuetral floor and it was no fluke.
