Bruce Weber on Jamar Smith

In a long interview with the News-Gazette

Q: Will Jamar Smith play for Illinois next season?

Weber: Right now, that's not in my hands. He has to deal with the court situation and the student disciplinary situation. Then, once all of that is through, then we'll piece it together and see where we're at.

Q: But do you want Jamar to play at Illinois again?

Weber: I want the best thing for the kid. I want him to learn from the situation, to become a better person, have a little more control in his life. I'll be there as much as possible to help him be successful. That goes for school, his personal life, his future. The least of the priorities is basketball, but that's a part of it and you can use that as a tool.

......................................................................................

He dodged that question pretty good, didn't he?
Nothing in those answers sounds like a "yes".

Why do I think things would have been handled SO differently had this been a player at Bradley?

Why do I think the head coach at Bradley would have done things differently?

Why do I think the AD at Bradley would NEVER act like the AD at UIUC in an NCAA game?

(Why do I think the press would cover this story differently?)

Because I am a Bradley fan?

No.

Because - like Illini fans have been telling us for years... there are two levels when discussing/comparing/contrasting Bradley and UIUC.

IMO - True colors are showing through at UIUC.

The bed is made - sleep in it.
