2 MVC games Sunday, Feb. 17

both game are underway

Missouri State at Loyola is tied 16-16 10 minutes in

The other game is Northern Iowa at Evansville - and I am watching that one on ESPN3 - UNI leads 27-15 about 14 min into the 1st half

TWO observations:
-- Evansville plays terrible defense - UNI gets just about any shot they want minimally contested
-- Evansville's offense is horrible - they stand around outside the 3-pt arc and toss a few passes until someone decides that it's their turn and forces a shot.
Most of the shots are forced or well defended so as you'd guess their shooting pct is bad (5-18 right now, 2-10 outside the arc)
Maybe this crappy offense works in the NBA but if Evansville's new coach Walter McCarty wants to compete in the MVC he'd either better get some NBA caliber shooters (which he isn't gonna do) or develop a whole new offense that will work at this level.
 
and the other halftime score UNI 36 - Evansville 22

...we kinda need for Evansville to beat UNI but I don't think that's gonna happen - hard to believe Evansville owns wins over
Drake, Loyola, Missouri State and Valpo - four teams that have been on top of the MVC all season so far!


and Missouri State is shooting light out up at Loyola...
they have only missed 7 shots so far the whole game and haven't missed at all so far in the 2nd half

Missouri State 65 - Loyola 61 - Loyola loses at home (where tey were previously undefeated in MVC play) to create a 3-way tie for 1st place in the MVC

Right now I'd say MSU and our Braves are the best two teams in the Valley. Would love to see them play Sunday in St.L.
 
at least one benefit of the ISU losing streak - it has put a complete stop to the ISU guys coming over here to BradleyFans and trolling or touting their superiority
