Not an MVC game- Illinois has played well lately with a win over Michigan, and a near-win at #3 ranked Maryland. But today, they looked bad in a loss to Missouri in the Braggin' Rights game in St. Louis.
But an incident happened after the game when an Illini fan yelled at Head Coach Brad Underwood as he headed to the locker room after the game, "that's 2 years in a row!". Underwood turned and reportedly had to be restrained by security from going after the fan. https://twitter.com/Yiannithemvp/sta...81887490072579 https://twitter.com/Fettigator/statu...07866186944512
Though it is true that the Illini have lost the last 2 against Missouri, they did win 5 straight before that.
The Illini fans on Twitter and the Illinois message boards are in full meltdown stage with everyone calling for Underwood to be fired. There have always been Underwood detractors, but it seems the last of his supporters/defenders have given up.
Illinois State showed their porous defense again as they allowed UTSA team to score 53 first half points to lead 53-36 at halftime.
ISU could never close the gap much, and UTSA continued to run up the score until they lead by 25 points in the 2nd half. They emptied their bench for the final several minutes, while ISU still had multiple starters on the floor until the end of the game as Dan Muller tired to keep the blowout from getting worse. Illinois State loses to UTSA 89-70. UTSA leading scorer Jhivvan Jackson had 41 points. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...meId=401173560
SEMO ran out to a 12-2 lead at SIU and looked like they were going to dominate the Salukis. But then SEMO went 11 minutes without another point while SIU pulled ahead and lead 32-20 at halftime. SIU continued to pull away in the 2nd half as SEMO continued to struggle on offense. SIU won 64-45- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...meId=401173637
