Illinois State beats Chicago State 80-71

The final score of one of Saturday's MVC games, Illinois State at Chicago State, was officially reported as 80-71. However, after the game's final score and stats were reported to the NCAA, the Athletic Department at Chicago State identified a scoring error. The final score should have been 81-71, because a made free throw was not counted. It would not be that big of a deal, except the 1 point difference caused bettors who should have won to lose, since Illinois State was listed by most sports books as a 9.5 or 10 point favorite

The mistake occurred late in the second half of the Illinois State-Chicago State game. A made free throw by Illinois State's Josiah Strong with 49 seconds to play was erroneously recorded as a miss. Illinois State, a 9.5 or 10-point favorite at most sportsbooks, went on to win by nine -- 80-71 -- without the made free throw counting.
