Welcome to the melting pot of BU basketball, Timothy! Excited to have you joining the family!

We’ve had success internationally, so I like getting more of them.

Does anyone have a description of his game? He is tall, is he more of a forward or really tall guard? Any player comparisons for his game?

He is listed in most places as 6'8" or 6'9". He turned 18 last May. He was born and raised in Italy, though his father is Dutch.
He played last season for Orange1 Bassano Academy, a sports developmental academy in Bassano, Italy,
This season he is playing with Bertram Tortona, a U20 team in the Italian developmental league (no professionals) in Tortona, Italy.- https://basketball.eurobasket.com/team/Bertram-Tortona-U20-team/66912
He is listed as a center, but he plays more of a wing position. he is averaging 12.0 ppg through 3 games.

Thanks for the info! Interesting that on that twitter scouting report they describe him as being above average athletically and a slasher. We really haven’t had that type of player since Childs. It’d be nice to have that sort of driving/slashing stretch 4 like a Taylor Brown, Theron Wilson, Donte Thomas, Elijah Childs mold that can handle the ball a little too. I always assume European players can shoot at least average as even their big guys tend to be able to step out and hit threes too. So if he can bring a little bit of both that’d be really great. It will be interesting to hear more about him.

Yep I think this roster needs someone of that mold for sure. Theron, Brown, Childs, Thomas etc were all fantastic players that provided a lot.

I found this comment from a European site
"2024 6-7 F Timoty van der Knaap has committed to Bradley ...
Curious case! Timoty plays for Italy, however his older brother Jacopo Van Der Knaap,
one of the most prominent U22s in Eba Group B with Tobarra, plays for the Netherlands."

I came across that too yoda. It made me wonder if Timoty's father played professionally in Italy when he was born and decided to put down roots in Italy to raise his family. Jacobo may have actually been born in the Netherlands before the dad began playing/living in Italy.

I see that Bradley Hoops did an article on Timoty....has anyone read what it says?:doubt:

It is free to read for me, and I am not a subscriber, though I do have an account and am signed in- https://www.pjstar.com/story/sports...-knapp-commits-to-bradley-braves/71890526007/

So maybe there are some articles that can be accessed if you create an account and log in as a guest.
It doesn't really say anything that we haven't posted on the board. Because he is not signed to an NLI, there are no comments from the coaches.
