Almar made the final cut & was just selected for his 12-member Iceland National U20 Team - https://www-kki-is.translate.goog/frettir/frett/2024/06/10/U20-ara-karlalandslid-Islands-lokahopur-fyrir-Nordurlandamot-hefur-verid-valinn/?pagetitle=U20+%C3%A1ra+karlalandsli%C3%B0+%C3%8Ds lands+-+lokah%C3%B3pur+fyrir+Nor%C3%B0urlandam%C3%B3t+hef ur+veri%C3%B0+valinn&_x_tr_sl=is&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr _hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc

They have competition coming up at the Nordic Championships in Sodertalje in Sweden, which begin Monday June 24.
The first Iceland Men's game is 5pm local time (10am Central Time, they are 7 hours ahead of us) vs Estonia on Wednesday June 26,
then they play again Thursday June 17 at 7:15pm (12:15 pm Central Time) vs Denmark or possibly Sweden (the schedules differ)
Here is a link to the full schedule of men's & women's games and should show the results when games are completed.

The rest of the Men's U20 games are noted here- https://nordicchampionship.cups.nu/2024/result/games
If you click on the arrow at the far right of each game, it then displays further info including a link to watch the game.

It appears they give you one livestream for free then you have to pay the fee- https://baskettv.se/nordicchamps-swe/

After the Nordic Championships are completed, then the European U20 Championships are played July 13-21 in Gdynia, Poland.
Not sure if Almar will remain there and play thru the end of July.

Timoty van der Knaap also hopes to play for his Italy U20 Team, and he is one of the 24 finalists vying for spots.
They meet June 21 in Udine, Italy to work out, make cuts down to 12 players for the roster, and they play a couple scrimmage games vs Croatia June 29-30. Here's more

Is there any reason for concern that this "summer season" might lead to potential fatigue or injury issues during regular season play?

It didn't seem to hurt some previous players who spent summers working with their national teams- Luuk van Bree, DLO, Ville Tahvanainen, Malevy Leons, and Rienk Mast all played for their national teams at some point while at Bradley.

Iceland's U20 team has played 2 games, here are the results:

Game 1: Iceland 84 - Estonia 72. Almar had 34 points, 5 reb, 2 asst, 2 steals, 5-13 from 3pt, 12-24 overall, only 1 turnover

The Iceland U20 team goes in 2 weeks to play in the FIBA U20 European Championships in Gdynia, Poland (7 hr time difference from Central Time)
I would hope Almar stays and plays for them

Group D play, followed by knockout rounds & finals-
July 13, 3:30pm local time vs Lithuania - https://www.fiba.basketball/en/events/fiba-u20-eurobasket-2024/games/121651-LTU-ISL
July 14, 1pm local they play Montegnegro - https://www.fiba.basketball/en/events/fiba-u20-eurobasket-2024/games/121650-ISL-MNE
July 15, 1pm vs Slovenia - https://www.fiba.basketball/en/events/fiba-u20-eurobasket-2024/games/121654-ISL-SLO

Italy also plays 3 games (Group B) on the same dates, but I can't confirm if van der Knaap will be playing- https://www.fiba.basketball/en/events/fiba-u20-eurobasket-2024

One of Iceland's regular players is # 9 in the photo below- Leo Curtis. He is listed as 6'11" in most places, but he appears to be at least 4-5 inches taller than Almar (# 11) who is 6'10". He's either grown or is standing in something. - https://scoutbasketball.com/player/Fridrik-Leo-Curtis#google_vignette

He played significant minutes in each of the 4 games, and averaged 10.5 ppg and 7.8 rpg, and he shot 19-25 (76%) overall and 2-5 (40%) from three.
He just turned 19 (birthdate 3/9/2005). I wonder if he is interested in playing at a US college? - https://scoutbasketball.com/player/Fridrik-Leo-Curtis

Leo Curtis (full name Fridrik Leo Curtis) played for Iceland in last summer's U18 Euro Championships. In 5 games, he averaged 9.6 ppg, 7.8 rpg, and he shot 18-33 from 2-point (54.5%) and 4-9 from 3-point (44.4%). - https://www.proballers.com/basketball/player/252756/fridrik-leo-curtis

On his X.com account (formerly Twitter), it says he is looking to play college ball in the US, and he lists himself as 7'0", though the photos appear to show he is even taller - https://x.com/LeoCurt1s

Scroll down on this page to see some video of him- https://x.com/PDTScouting/status/1794137300160454854
I'd love to see our coaches get on this kid. He looks like a good low post player who has other skills, and can shoot the three.
