No more Cinderellas

LB you are 100% correct. No one even mentioned a possible travel. According to the rules a player is only allowed 1 1/2 steps after he picks up his dribble. He than must shoot or pass the ball before his second foot hits the floor.I've watched the replay many times and its safe to say he took 3 steps. That probably would have been called in the NBA and they don't call much.

The studio experts tried to argue the first step was a "gather step "

who were the studio experts and what the heck is a gather step never seen that term in any rule book ive seen, Also that would leave two more steps and thats 1/2 to many. It was an uncalled travel plain and simple.

Oh I agree, but the gather step is a new NBA term to justify traveling.

If there is such a thing as a gather step, that ain't it. That dude took 3 long, slow, deliberate steps AFTER having full control of the ball. Terrible no call. Or as Charles would say, turrible.

Another trend we see now in college and NBA basketball that should be a violation is the "jump step", also called the "hop step". - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=by0SAPZZSuc

A player will end his dribble, or in some cases, receive a pass, then they jump, or hop to reposition both feet before they launch a shot. You see it in every game, and technically, it should be traveling, but it is never called. Sometimes, players will stretch it even further and do two hops, and even that obvious travel isn't always called. It has become a regularly accepted move now.

I am reading more and more of people stepping up to criticize the NCAA on the Tournament setup with fewer mid-majors, Srephen Smith, J.J Watts
