POB in Hawaii

Da Coach

Training camp for the Golden State Warriors has begun in Laie, Hawaii.
Patrick O"Bryant is starting his second season in the NBA.
Here is a report. Note the last paragraph where Coach Don Nelson compliments POB-
"Nelson mentioned forward Al Harrington and center Patrick O'Bryant as standouts in Tuesday evening's scrimmage session, which was not open to the media."--

POB is doing a great job in training camp. All he needs to do is to continue to impress the coaching staff. He looks great and his mind is in a very good place right now. I was told he was out running on the beach doing speed/jumping drill with his step dad (way to go POB :-)

This is great to hear! With all the turnover among the big men on the team, this hopefully will be the chance he needed to develop like we all knew he could.

You go POB, I am pulling for you to silence the doubters!
I don't think Patrick was ever given much of a chance to show his abilities under Nelson.
We're pulling for you Patrick!

I hope the props are not trade props but the real thing. You go POB, silence the haters. The late great Walter Payton use to train running up and down sand hills.

They had some TV time out here on the Warriors and they showed POB and he looked really happy and a bit bigger!

I would love to have AP, and POB both doing well in the NBA. And it's only a matter of time before 'Cellus signs with someone...

A comment from an ESPN writer
"now even I'm getting kind of excited to learn that Patrick O'Bryant is in good shape"

In the video on Thursday's blog entry 1/3 way down the page, POB is seen 2/3 way through the video, running the baseline, #26.

Also in the 1st video from Friday's training session POB is seen a lot, running the floor and working on FT's under basket, the right at the end they talk about POB and show him taking some shots.

Mike R, just because a lot of fans, myself included, thought POB left too soon, don't mean we are "haters". I wish all the luck possible for him and all ex- Braves.

Excellent reply. At the time of his departure, I certainly believed that POB left too early (and I still do), but he decided to leave and I wish him nothing but the best.

Word is that Charlotte is actively looking for a "veteran" center to replace the injured Sean May. They already have a very inexperienced 7-footer in Hollins. I wonder if they might be interested in a past Top 10 draft pick?

I think POB would fit nicely with the Bobcats playing style. And I'd love to have the chance to watch another Braves play in Charlotte (ala Hawk).

The Warriors' roster for training camp has 18 players on it. They can only have 15 rostered players by the start of the season, so 3 will be trimmed.

But I wouldn't look for POB to be traded just to reduce the roster size. He has a guaranteed contract for this season and is not making a lot of money (by NBA standards). They will likely cut some guys with non-guaranteed contracts like rookies Carlos Powell, or Stephane Lasme, or Kelenna Azubuike.

They might trade POB if it was a deal that could bring them another established scorer, or if they decide they need another point guard.
