Big man Arturas Valeika has committed to a Division I mid-major. But despite reports from Rivals.com that Bradley was interested in him and had offered a scholarship, he committed to Weber State in Ogden, Utah, a member of the Big Sky Conference. Valeika is a 6'9", 220 pound post player at Midland College, Midland, Texas, originally from Lithuania. He lead Midland in rebounding the past 2 years.

Weber State has a newly named coach, Randy Rahe, who hired one of the Midland assistant coaches onto his staff at Weber State. That, according to a Rivals article is a major reason Valeika chose Weber State. He was also offered scholarships by Minnesota, Purdue, and Florida Atlantic.

Ahhh.....now it becomes more clear why such a decent prospect as Arturas Valeika that BU was recruiting would choose to go to Weber State. Didn't that surprise anyone else besides me??

A chicagohoops.com article that was linked elsewhere in the discussion on Manual Cass mentions a couple guys who were just newly hired as assistant coaches at Weber State.

Duhhhh.......look where they were hired from.
Yup, one of them was hired away from Midland junior college. So Arturas was part of one of those package deals.
this stuff is getting more and more prevalent all the time!
