Boys to Men

Since BTMA played a public high school team last night, at least there is a little bit of news coverage to the game.

Boys to Men played Gary (IN) West at the Martin Luther King Heritage Basketball Shootout Classic at Gary Wallace HS last night.
BTMA won 74-72, as they continue to lose to a lot of prep schools and struggle against regular high school opponents.
D-I prospect Jamil Tucker lit up BTMA for 34 points, and even had a shot for the win in the final seconds.
With the talent BTMA has (8-10 D-I players on the squad)
they should be blowing out any regular high school opponents.

An interesting sidelight to the game was the fact that BTMA supposedly got "stuck in traffic" again and showed up late for the start of the game. This happened to them once earlier in the season when a game had to be rescheduled, althought this time it got started 30 minutes late.
Just a couple weeks ago, Milwaukee Vincent, which was said to be in a "rebuilding year" and not that strong, "totally dismantled" Boys to Men. ("surprisingly easy 79-59 victory")

Speaking of Julian Wright,
his Kansas Jayhawks lost a home game to cross-state rivals
Kansas State for the first time in over thirty years.
highly touted Julian Wright (pegged by many as a sure fire
superstar in his freshman year and a possible NBA pick by his
soph year), only played 11 minutes and was, well, slightly less
than productive, scoring 2 points and looking a bit out of sync.
Also, Brandon Rush looked bad, with 5 turnovers, only 12 pts.
despite playing the whole game.
If I was Julian Wright, I'd be wondering why I went to KU
instead of Illinois. he'd be a major part of a 16-1 squad,
instead of a bit player on a mediocre team, who purposely went
out and recruited Rush to play ahead of Wright, even knowing
Rush will probabbly not be there next year.
By the way, Brandon Rush spent part of the week suspended by the NCAA,
but of course, since he plays for Kansas, the suspension was lifted in time
for Saturday's game.

Did Xavier Crawford do anything?

I have found the answer:

Xavier Crawford scored 2 points in the win over Gary West.
Here is the box score, and apparently Manual Cass either did not play, or did not score,
and BTMA definitely won it in the 2nd half.

Boys to Men Academy 74, West Side 72

BOYS TO MEN ACADEMY (13-14-24-23) [scores by quarter]

Kelly 11, Koshwal 17, Moses 13, Brackens 15, Tiutt 3, Anderson 9, Glover 2, Crawford 2, Realford 2. Totals -- 29 9-21 74.

WEST SIDE (22-23-9-16) [scores by quarter]

Michael Patton 6, Jamil Tucker 32, Robert Wright 6, Cameron Hudgins 4, Wesley Dancy 7, Horace Bond 4, Gerald Campbell 3, DeShawn Clay 10. Totals -- 28 10-13 72.

3-pointers: Kelly 3, Moses 3, Brackens 1 (BMA); Patton 3, Tucker 2, Dancy 1 (WS). Team fouls: Boys to Men Academy 15; West Side 18. Fouled out: None.

I guess I am glad that XC is playing now, but kind of wondering why he's only scoring 2 points a game. We still don't know if he's qualified yet.

I'll see BTM Wed nite. I'll let you know Thurs morning how it goes.

Thanks, lefty
If you get there early enough, see if you can find and chat with Xavier, and get the scoop on his injury, ACT score, etc...
