Dunson's Comment

This quote from a DR article has stuck with me:

"This is going to be a lot of fun," Dunson said after one of the sweltering workouts. "Everybody here can play."

That struck me because of where he's been. I wonder whether this kid, who's been a high school star, a juco star, and an every-game player for a Big 12 team, sees something in this BU squad that he hasn't seen before.

Reading too much into it? Maybe. But that quote has made me think . . . .

What's he gonna say? Half the players here can play, half cannot? I think sometimes we read into things too much. I would expect that everyone on a DI roster 'can play'. We haven't played one game yet, so I think it's a little early to 'see things'. It's easy to look like an all-star in the offseason.

In conversation with some people that saw summer camps they said for the most part this an in shape talented team at all positions. Hard to guard is the comment I heard the most.

'Hard to guard'...sounds familiar. We've been 'hard to guard' for a while now. How about 'these guys can guard'? I'll get excited when I start hearing that.

BTW - How would Dodie Dunson know what a 'special' Division I team looks like? He hasn't played on one yet. His Iowa St team was horrible. I would sure hope that this BU squad is better that that Iowas St team he played on. I don't think it's saying much at this point if he 'sees' us being better than that group.

Sorry BB.....but my glass is half full! :D For the record thats OK on this site! I know...until Jl can win the conference BU will never measure up to your standards!

Is winning the conference really to tough of a standard? How about we finish top 3 this year. That would be a major step forward and If we do that we will be expected to win in 09/10.

Same guy said Roberts and Dunson are on the D solid. Also said we have not seen the AW we will see. Just look at size, if they are quick our tips and steals should be improved. Do not forget the bulldog SM. This will be a good D team.

I want to win every year......but that doesn't mean a fan cannot be excited about the upcoming season![/QUOTE

So then why this direct shot at BB? I can assure you he is just as excited as anyone about the upcoming season and while you have no idea what his standard of success is, if it were winning the conference once a decade I dont think that would be asking to much.

I'm taking it as a shot to DD not knowing a what a good D1 player looks like!

Explain which sentence leads you to that conclusion?
