AJ Youngman

Recruiting specialist Rick Bolus just reported AJ is getting interest from Florida State

This seems like an overreach to me. No offense to AJ, he's a solid player, but is he really that much of an elite shooter to warrant interest at this level? He will have serious defensive deficiencies at the at the D-1 level, so am assuming this interest is primarily based on 3 point shooting.

Manual state title hopes diminish with Watkins tearing his acl -- maybe Booth can convince Chris Payton to transfer in

Per PJStar;

Youngman returns

Manual senior AJ Youngman will make his season debut on Friday against Richwoods. Youngman has had to sit out because of a back injury. He was one of the three leading scorers on last year's Manual team that finished third at the Class 3A state finals. The other two, Da'Monte Williams and Romon Douglas-Watkins, remain out of the Rams lineup.

his back problems have sufficiently improved (reportedly he had surgery)
and he is cleared to play but I suspect he will play in limited shifts ...

but I like AJ and wish him well...hope he has a great game - he will be one of the go-to guys with both DaMonte Williams and Romon Douglas-Watkins still out.
Douglas-Watkins also is said to be making good progress and may make an effort at coming back, as this is his senior year.

...
..possibly transferring from Bloomington HS (enrollment 1378 ) to Olympia High School (enrollment 551)
Reportedly Charles Payton (17.4 ppg, 8.8 rpg, rated 4-STAR and getting Big Ten interest) chooses now to live with his father in the Olympia school district but he would be ineligible to play for the remainder of the season.
This hurts Bloomington HS as he is their best player on a 20-6 team that was expected to do well in the Regionals.

A little followup on Manual's AJ Youngman -

In his very first college game... Eastern Kentucky went on the road to play Rice...
Freshman AJ Youngman came off the bench and provided the spark with 7 pts, 2 reb, 2 asst to turn the game around and help Eastern KY win 73-72.

When he entered the game in the 2nd half, Eastern KY trailed Rice by NINE POINTS, 44-35, then AJ hit a jumper, a 3-pointer and got some assists & rebounds to get them back in the game.
They still trailed until the final 5 seconds then pulled ahead with a couple FTs to win an exciting game!

an interesting sidelight... Houston Rockets' James Harden was at the game!

AJ Youngman got the start tonight - his first start at the college level in just his 3rd game...
at half he has 8 pts on 3-5 overall and 2-4 from 3-pt range

Live Stream

EKU wins by 31 after trailing by 14 in the 1st half
AJ Youngman 4-6 from the arc - (14 pts) and all his shots were coming off screens and while in motion

47 of their points came from their freshman class plus they lose virtually nothing this year to graduaiton! They are gonna be good in a couple years.
