BU recruit- 2015- Christian Williams

Christian Williams is getting more D1 interest, but he is still high on Bradley's radar. He will make an unofficial visit today (Monday, 6/30), along with several other members of his Peoria Irish AAU team.

a couple sources have discussed some serious issue going on with Christian Williams...
he was going to leave Decatur St. Teresa's and go to Springfield Lanphier this year - and it all seemed a done deal --
then suddenly there was talk of him transferring back to St. Teresa but his mother was quoted as saying she didn't want him to transfer and wouldn't sign off on any transfer...
But now new reports say that Christian is now 18 years old and can legally make the decision himself, but that either way, without certain people signing off on the transfer, that he may not be eligible this season.
But if he goes back to St. Teresa, he might not be eligible there since he had already enrolled at Lanphier, because that also would be seen as a transfer.
There's even some comments on one message board about some Facebook postings that hint as a dispute between certain parents in the district...
Hmmmm....Either way - the whole situation is turning into a sticky one...

Sad case- BU recruit Christian Williams had left private school at Decatur St. Theresa, and transferred to Springfield Lanphier. My guess is that someone counseled him and told him he would get better D1 looks by playing at a higher level with better players.
But unfortunately, there were questions whether he would be allowed to play at Springfield Lanphier because of the IHSA rules on transfers when the IHSA believes the transfer is for sports reasons. So he transferred back to Decatur St. Theresa. But the IHSA will count that as another transfer. Looks like he'll remain ineligible for his entire senior season.

With so many juniors on our roster, he would seem to be the perfect kid to convince to pay his freshman year himself as a preferred walk on and then give him a scholarship the following year. Wichita state has had a few guys do that recently and it worked out well for them.

If a kid is good enough to land 6 or 8 decent D-I offers, I'd be shocked if he comes out of high school and pays his own way somewhere. I suppose it has happened somewhere but mostly with kids who have limited offers and that's one of their few options.

I suppose I was thinking specifically of Malcolm armstead. He was transferring from Oregon, not coming out of high school so not an exact parable. but if williams doesn't play at all this year his stock might take a hit, which would open up the possibility that his other options might dry up.

could be - I'd take a kid whose stock fell when he wasn't able to or didn't play - that's kinda how we landed Dyricus & to a lesser degree Mike Shaw

Christian Williams had 19 points and 11 rebounds tonight in his senior debut for St. Teresa HS.

I noticed the words 'former recruit'. Have we stopped actively recruiting him? From reading the boards, the emphasis seems to be junior college to get more immediate help. Although it usually takes JC players at least 1/2 season to get used to MVC basketball.
