MVC articles

Fay has been the subject of several recent articles in the SouthernIllinoisan and in his hometown paper, the LaSalle Tribune.
The stories talk a little about his slow start but a couple claim he is starting to have some breakout games.

The truth is that Fay is struggling, despite being a favorite for Freshman of the Year in the Valley.
He is a good player and still has plenty of time to turn it around, but maybe too much was expected of him in his first year?
He's had a lot of chance to step in since SIU's bench is so thin and hasn't helped them much at all, yet here are Fay's numbers:
17 games, 16-35, 2.6ppg (9th best on team), 1.5rpg (8th on team), 3 assists, 11 turnovers.
Last game against Evansville, 10 minutes, zero points, zero rebounds.
The previous game against Indiana State, 15 minutes, zero points, 2 rebounds.

yeah...go figure, he was probably trying to outdo his AAU teammate Sam Maniscalco. Both had good games that night.

Sam-13 pts, 4 asst
Fay- 11 pts, no assists or rebs

Here's one on Eldridge:

Perhaps of more signficance, Eldridge has elevated his game dramatically in areas besides scoring. He ranks 13th with nearly six rpg, is tied for 16th with more than two apg and 10th in steals with 1.7 per game.

His all-around game has really gotten very good. Not to bad for a guy who was known for only dunking all the time. ;)

Imagine that...a 6'3" guard averaging nearly 6 rebounds a game. That's almost equal to what our two 6'5" guards are averaging COMBINED.

Totally agree, ER3. Did BU not go after him that hard or what? Even if he's struggled for most of this season, I think he'll still be a very good player in this league.
I'm fairly sure that BU was recruiting him pretty heavily...The old "Ferrari vs. Yugo" pitch must not have worked in this case.

I believe BU really liked Fay, but when they got Will Egolf's commitment, they may have backed off Fay a little.

I had heard BU still wanted Fay as a "4" and viewed WE as a 3/4, but that Fay clearly made his intentions known as chose SIU.
