Vandy at a #10 seed and Drake at a #3? That doesnt seem right . I know Drake has a great W/L record but I really think we'll be able to take them on and win in our next match.

The A-10 will have failed if they only get 3 in this year.

p.s. Outside the Big 7, quite frankly, I'd set the over/under on at-large bids at 1.5.

There will be a lot of outrage if the MVC gets only 1 bid. And I might be one that leads charges comparing resumes. But I understand the selection process.... which always has shockers... and I am expecting 1 bid right now.

ps - It is comments like this that show your true colors. This comment is only meant to enflame BU/MVC fans. I don't understand the "dig", really.

There is the BCS 6 and then the next few.... then the rest.

I'm talking in terms of performance this year and this year only - I think fans can acknowledge the A-10 is outplaying the MVC this year. Let's be frank - two years ago, I'd use the term "Big 7" which included the MVC - and this year, it's the A-10. A reference to the gap between the haves and have nots.

Someone's going to develop a resume to make the MVC a multi-bid league. I do believe that. But frankly, who's it going to be? As of this moment, we don't know, so it's listed as a 1-bid league for now. I think the same applies for the Mountain West. Add in the inevitable two-man breakaway in the WCC, and I suppose I should bump my over/under to 2.5.

Everyone else is scrambling. VCU might have a shot out of the Colonial, Butler obviously in the Horizon, and Kent St in the MAC, and there's enough strong teams to think George Mason, Cleveland St, Wright St, Ohio, or Akron can easily win that conference tournament.

That's fine AS. I knew what you meant.

But my point was... in a year when there is the BCS 6 and the MVC.... it is still considered the BCS 6 and then....

You get my gist?

(But I do get yours)

My thought is this....

If Drake continues on their roll and grabs the 1 seed and ISU follows current suit and gains the 2, I believe we have a 3-bid scenario if 3 things happen...

  • Drake loses its tournament game on Saturday
  • ISU makes it to the Championship on Sunday
  • The 4/5 who beats Drake Saturday also beats ISU on Sunday to get the automatic bid

Then and only then could I see the Valley getting 3 bids...other than ISU and Drake, no one has a strong enough record, RPI, or resume w/o running the table, which if you've watched Valley action this year, you know just isn't going to happen

Nah, ISU does not have a good enough RPI for at-large resume as of right now...An RPI of 45, a loss against an RPI 262 team, an 0-3 record against RPI top 50 teams...that resume isn't going to turn anyone's heads on the selection committee...
They still have a chance to build a better at-large resume...but in order to do that, ISU needs to get on another streak, beat Drake, hope they beat a quality opponent in the BracketBuster, and end up 13-5 or so (at the worst) in the Valley to have any kind of hope for an at large, IMO.
Sorry, but this just isn't the same Valley we've come to know over the past few years where the second place team is in as an at-large without much of a question...
