Drake at ISU

And The Drake does it again...wow! Great defense on that final scurry for the ball, and a good job of forcing a 28-foot 3-pointer rather than giving up an open shot.

Drake is living a charmed life. How many close games can they win?

Drake wins 73-70

If BU can win tomorrow, they will play ISU Saturday for a share of 2nd.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This Drake team is having a very similar season to our Braves during Hersey's final season. They're not winning big, but always seem to find a way to get the "W".

as much as I hate to admit it....the one game I look forward to more than just about any other that doesn't involve BU,
is Drake at Butler......that should be a good game.

...That Keeno Davis can really coach.

yup....that was great coaching getting all those 3-pointers to go in!!!!! :) :) :)

I went to the ISU-Drake game last night with a friend, and guys, let me tell you it was a great game. The ISU crowd was very loud, and very into the game.

I'm not sure ISU could have played any better in the first half offensively, they were hitting 3's, getting rediculous put-back dunks by Osiris, dunks by slack, and the crowd was loud. They really had a chance to deliver a knock-out punch in the first half, but...............................

Drake would not allow it. Drake is a very, very tough minded group. They have a great calmness to their offense. I know it took a superhuman performance for about 3 minutes from Josh Young to keep em in it, but I was very impressed with their team tonight. They run that spread offense to perfection, and I can't remember a time that Drake didn't run something for a score after coming out of a timeout. They also waited until the second half to slap the press on, and boy was it effective, they forced ISU to turn it over about 4 times in the back court. I was very impressed with Drake's players and coaches.

Nice win and congrats on a great season so far.

He's been coaching those shots to go in all season. :)

I don't know how much Keno Davis has had to do with the incredible season Drake is having, but how can you not give him the National Coach of the Year award?

Last year, Drake finished 17-15, but just 6-12 in the MVC, and one game out of last place in the MVC ( they were in a 3-way tie for 7th, one game ahead of last place Indiana State).
They lost 4 of their starters from that team- AJ Calvin, Aliou Keita, Al Stewart, and Nick Grant. The only starter returning was Klayton Korver, though reserve Josh Young was their best player the last part of the season.
This year's team is getting virtually no contributions from any new players, yet they are now 21-1 with a 20 game winning streak, and they have beaten everyone they've played in the MVC. And they are doing it with a roster of players consisting of several walkons (Cox, Emmenecker, and Baryenbruch were all walkons) and other players that almost nobody else recruited. Josh Young was rated 3-stars, but no other player they've recruited has been rated even that high. I am impressed.

Keno is clearly the COY in the MVC, and should be the National COY.

Hey--- here's a picture from the Drake-ISU game....
look who is sitting right behind the Drake bench....
I think that's Brandyn Heemskerk....
Brandyn's brother Brent Heemskerk told me that Brandyn is working in Chicago,
so possibly he drove down and got good seats courtesy of brother Brent?
