ISU Game IS SOLD OUT

ISU is announcing that the game tomorrow night is a sellout.
http://goredbirds.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/020808aaa.html

Their capacity is stated at 10,200, they had 8,185 at their home game Wednesday vs. Drake.

Their last sellout was 2/5/05 vs. BU , attendance was 10,200.

*** I have my tickets, but I won't post here where my seats are, since I am sure some ISU lurker will tell all their friends, and I'll get pelted like Eric Gordon's dad did.

Funny how much everyone seemed to make of that incident, but one of the reasons I didn't go to a game at ISU for most of the past 15 years is that routinely when we'd go to games at Horton FH, we'd get pummeled by ISU fans with garbage, not-so empty coke cups, popcorn, and even got spit on a time or two. Now I don't bring this up to rehash old issues, but if ISU wants more sellouts like this one, they should be smart enough to realize the reason it's a sellout is because there are a whole lot of fans coming from the other school. If they don't want those fans to quit coming, they should assure those fans don't have to be exposed to the crapp I saw many times at ISU, but have never, never, ever seen at Carver.

I saw on Redbird Fans that they are not selling standing room only tickets, which is kind of silly in my opinion, but it's good to see that the game is a sellout, I hope there's a lot of Bradley fans in BN tomorrow.

Glad to see you are coming back to Redbird Arena T. I hope you enjoy the experience except of course the outcome. :)

Should be a great game and a great atmosphere for basketball. As others have said on both boards I hope the officials are up to the challenge and that they realize that none of the 10,200 fans in attendance have come to watch them. 10,200 people will be there to watch the 2 best collegiate teams in Illinois renew and revitalize the state's best rivalry, the best in the Valley (sorry CU and SIU fans) and one of the best in the Midwest.

Maybe next year we can get 1 or both of these tilts on ESPN to show the nation what they are missing!

If anyone would like to drop by and say hello pregame.....PM me and I'll give you my seat location.

I agree with you 100%. They are turning away 100-200 SRO tickets at around $8 a pop. That's over $1,000 by my count that is being turned away. I don't agree but I guess they have their reasons.

Any idea what those reasons are, is it strictly a fire code thing?

I would guess it's just a fire code thing, but I'm not 100% certain whether or not there are other factors. The demand is certainly there for a couple hundred SRO 'seats' to be sold. Not sure why the ISU athletic department would say no to that if they had a choice. Are you going to the game BUBraves06?

I bought many years ago standing room only seating for a Sectional championship I believe Manual v Lincoln and those were fantastic, great view from right above the lower level seating.

Maybe they will sell standing room only on game day.

Actually, many of the places that people would stand are often loaded with people standing even when the game was far from a sellout, since those were actually pretty good spots to view from. I know some of the people in the upper bowls would just come down and stand to watch because of the decent views from the top of the lower bowl.

This is true. I've done it myself a time or 3. :)

I was really hoping I could score a ticket or two for this one! Please let me know if any of you have to give up your seats, because I would gladly take them! :-D

Redbird Arena, according to their website, has been their home since 1989.
We know their last two sellouts were 2/5/05 and 2/9/08, but the sellout before that was said to be 7 years earlier (in 1998 ).
So...tomorrow will be only the 2nd sellout in a decade at Redbird Arena.

Wonder if ISU fans will storm the court if they win. Last time they had a sellout, they beat Bradley 69-62. Bradley finished 13-15 (6-12, 8th in MVC) that year while ISU finished 17-13 (8-10, 6th in MVC).

This game is treated as their National Championship Game.

"They don't call it 'The War on I-74' anymore, but Saturday's Bradley-IllinoisState game was no less intense than it has been for 100 years.

Buoyed by the first sellout in seven years at Redbird Arena, ISU solidified its third-place standing in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 69-62 victory over the Braves.

Senior guards Trey Guidry and Vince Greene led the Redbirds with 24 and 20 points respectively. Many of the 10,200 stormed the court after time ran out to celebrate a victory in what many call the best rivalry..."

It had to be Pepsi cups (we don't have coke)

For $100 I'll tell you where Cooksey sits

But I think it was Coke way back then....
and notice I didn't post where my seats are going to be.....
I may come wearing a disguise...

I will have on a jacket with "King T" emblazoned across the back, and carry a breathalyzer just in case...
