1 MVC game sunday

Man for SIU being a veteran team they really make some dumb plays/decisions. They are down 19 at half 45-26. They actually look a little like they have quit on Lowery or they have tuned him out.

SIU is terrible. They're about as bad of a road team as I have seen all season. Quite frankly, I am surprised that they've been able to hold serve at home this year, although they do still have Drake and ISU coming to Carbondale.

Tough year for Chris Lowery, but don't count the Salukis out in the tourney

Here are a couple surprising facts from this game...

Randall Falker....fouled out, 7 pts, 1 rebound
Matt Shaw ....3-10 and 0-3 from 3-pt
Bryan Mullins....3 assists, 7 turnovers, 4 fouls (team had 23 turnovers, Creighton had 29 points off turnovers!!)
Wesley Clemmons...started, 21 minutes, one basket
Booker Woodfox....19 minutes, 20 points
Creighton got HALF their points (36 of 72) from their bench, and only one starter got double figures.

Creighton set a single season attendance record for the MVC at 236,601.

Yahoo says roughly 15,000 for this game. Thats about 4000 more than the Carver record lol. Course, BU fans could easily fill a 20,000 seat stadium for a marquee matchup if we had the stadium capability. Also, SIU & Creighton played relatively equal that game if you take out the -12 turnover ratio for SIU.

Creighton played their usual 3/4 trap press to slow SIU down and then fell back into a zone defense and made sure that Falker had a man in front of him and behind him to limit his touches; SIU does not shoot well from the perimeter and was pretty much taken out of this game by the half, you cannot give Woodfox (of Creighton) any open shots as he seems to be their best outside shooter, Stinnet likes to score more off the drive, Altman still plays a lot of people and their team has looked very good at times but inconsistent on the road like a lot of teams.
