Eric Gordon rumor, and possible further penalties for Indiana

I am hearing a rumor that Eric Gordon has sustained a left wrist injury (maybe broken?). I can't find any confirmation. But the source is usually reliable. The Indiana message boards are lit up over this rumor. This link may be to a premium site--

Here is an article that refers to another article by Loren Tate of the Champaign News Gazette. It reports a rumor that the NCAA will indeed enforce additional penalties on Kelvin Sampson, and possibly their Athletic Director Rick Greenspan (former AD at IS)

Gordon has started to struggle a bit....not that he isn't helping his team still, but not like he once was.
his scoring average has dropped from mid-20's to 21.7...
but the real noticable thing is all the bad passes and turnovers.
He leads the team by far in turnovers, 63 in 18 games (3.5 TO/gm), and his assist to turnover ratio is 0.7.
His 3-pt shooting pct has fallen off and is now at 40%.
If EJ's wrist is broken and he has to miss games, then IU might struggle.

Sweet, sweet justice. Maybe next time you'll remember what goes around comes around, Kelvin.

Worse than Indiana and Kelvin Sampson cheating is a sour Illini fan

Realization is this...whether you had Gordon or not wouldn't make Illinois a Top 25 program this year....way too many holes left by program mismanagement and other recruiting error

I'm not so sure I agree with that - Illinois has been close in almost every game this season despite a very difficult schedule. Having a stellar SG would have made a HUGE difference, as that is the one position where Illinois is really undermanned. Take Gordon out of the equation, and I'm not sure Indiana is any better than Illinois.

The official report from IU says just that...
Gordon injured his wrist in practice Tuesday, when he landed awkwardly going for a rebound in practice Tuesday.

Eric Gordon will likely play Thursday with some sort of protective padding on his non-shooting wrist.

Thank you, sir. I'd have to say, the EG saga coupled with Jamar Smith sitting out the season are far worse problems than "program mismanagement". I know some are critical of my deep, deep hatred for Indiana, but let's say Bradley gets a great recruit with a verbal commitment. And let's say for the sake of argument, ISU and Tim Jankovich pull a Kelvin Sampson. Obviously, I and the rest of the people on this board would be just as angry as I am now with Indiana, and obviously wouldn't want to see them do well. The fact that they are already conference rivals and see each other twice a year, possibly a third time in the conference tournament creates even more hatred.

The premium end of the Loren Tate article (by the way, Loren Tate played high school baseball with my brother FWIW :) )
says that several sources, including other D-I coaches have filed complaints with the NCAA over calls made to recruits,
that the other schools are just now learning of. In other words...Sampson has possibly made more improper and illegal calls than the ones NCAA knows about.

Even one fan from Indianapolis chimed in on the Illini board saying those rumors have been swirling around Indy for a couple weeks, and that Sampson and AD Greenspan may be cut loose, so IU can avoid any other penalty.

That's not exactly surprising. He was carrying a lot of baggage with him from Oklahoma, and it's no secret he cheated there, too.

As usual people speculate that Knight will come back. Not a snowball's chance. Not after what they did to him the first time. I don't know if I even see Knight coaching again. What's he got left? He's won more games than anyone else.

He would be going out on top, but coach K will pass Knight up in a couple years.

I really think Sampson will stay IU because NCAA is not going to do anything major to them if anything at all.If the NCAA didn't do anything to USC football there not going to do much to IU basketball.
