update on Warren

Naptown24

New member
just wanted to let all of AW's fans that his surgery went well and he is doing fine. i'm going to make sure that his recovery is fast & speedy. Forgot to mention he has a plate plus 6 screws in his hand. I am keeping pleanty of ice on it!

Thanks for the update, hopefully he makes a full recovery and is back soon, he's really developed this year and we need him in St. Louis.

I don't know if you want to share this publicly or not Naptown, but is there a best-case/worst-case timetable for AW's return? Obviously we're all hoping for the best!

Tornado posted something similar yesterday, but here's a picture of a fractured 2nd metacarpal and a 5 hole plate being inserted. I'm guessing AW's is similar.

Have they considered just putting on one of those huge soft casts like they do in football with no fingers or hand at all and let him just go start bangin down low.....:)

Go luck ADub...heal quickly.....

Enough with the x-rays already over the past few days. If they x-rayed my body........ Lets just wait a week and see what the doctors say. Go Braves, beat Drake :)

I found the x-rays to be quite helpful. I'd never heard of a spiral fracture before.

Not really sure yet on how soon he could return, it really depends how soon he heals. But let's all hope for a fast recovery!

Thanks for the info naptown.
Best of luck and get well soon Andrew

I second the thanks and well wishes...and I want to add a bit more...
I have had a little chance on a few occasions to talk with Andrew and to meet and talk with a couple members of his family at the
post season banquet last year, and I want to say again how much I admire Andrew as a great young man of high integrity and work ethic, well spoken and a very fine family as well.
I consider it a great privilege to have met you and think the BU basketball community is blessed to have such a fine young man at BU.
I hope his career really takes off and he has as Anthony-Parker-like junior season, but I sure would still like to see Andrew make it back before the end of this season.

Thanks for the update Naptown. Like everyone else, I wish him the best and hope we can see him back before the year is over. However I know the docs will make the right choice and not rush him back if he's not ready or the injury hasn't healed properly.

Naptown thanks for the update. I agree with PTH let's not rush him. As much as we need him now we'll need him more for the next two years. Let it properly heal. This could take around 4 weeks to heal and then he'll have to do a little rehab on it to fully get it in playing condition.

I'm not a doctor, but I think with the plate in place the issue won't be it healing properly, but rather how much pain can be tolerated and how much motion and flexibility AW has. Everyone's pain tolerance is different, but AW is a tough kid. I personally think he will be back for the MVC Tournament because of the nature of the injury and the nature of the treatment. Hopefully, he's back for a Friday game rather than a Thursday one.

Does anyone know of any other players who have had a similar injury, how long they were out, if and how they were able to play with it? I remember JJ Tauai having a broken left hand for the last month of last season, but obviously it was a different kind of break than AW's.

Thank you Nap town. My wife and I are die hard Bradley Fans.
We just want you to realize how much we appreciate Andrew as a person and what he brings to Bradley basketball
As Al McGuire use to say, both as a person and as a Bradley basketball player, "He's a Keepah."
You, "did good."

I'm not sure how similar the hand injury is...but LD Williams (6'4" guard, Wake Forest) broke the metacarpal in his right hand (reports don't say which one) on January 22nd against Clemson. After minor surgery (again, very few details), he was projected to return in 3 weeks (although I have read that this injury can take 6-8 weeks to heal). On February 4th, he had x-rays taken, and was cleared to shoot and dribble with his right hand in practice. On February 13th, he was then cleared to play. He was still experiencing soreness, but he used a stimulator on his hand every night to reduce the soreness and build calcium around the bone for healing. After being cleared, he played 20 minutes on 2/14 against FSU and 35 minutes on 2/17 against Duke. So, it was 14 days until he was practicing with it and 23 days until he was back in games.

If Andrew can recover a few days quicker than LD, then he'll be good for the MVC tournament. However, more important than the tournament is Andrew's complete recovery. I will definitely miss seeing him on the court and hope he gets well soon!

Great info. Obviously I want AW to be healthy and as pain-free as possible, but I expect to see him play in St. Louis. No pun intended here, but after tonight perhaps the breaks are going to start falling our way. How about BU weathers this injury until St. Louis, and we get AW back for our tourney run? Sounds good to me!

I can vouch for Grassman, he is a great BU fan, and for AW being a Keepah,
but Grassman, point your wife out to me next time, where you been hiding her??
