What BU team will DU play?

Well I am interested in what you all think. In the past two games we have seen 2 VERY different basketball teams. Will we come out flat, and play similar to our loss at Indiana State? Or after Saturdays victory, will we come out with something to prove?

Playing like we did Saturday, we could beat anyone, anywhere. I am hoping that Warren's injury does not create undue problems for the team. I would like to see TCS out in some quality minutes. Anyway, just interested in what everyone thinks.

I could be wrong (certainly wouldn't be a first  ) but I have a feeling this could be a break-out game for TCS with 10+ points and a close BU win. :)

I have a feeling it's going to be Drake by 10 points. I think the starters will do fine but the lack of bench scoring will kill us. We'll see what happens though.

Not having Warren worries me because of not only losing his scoring but probably more importantly is his length defensively but also his ability to rebound.

Remember they out boarded us offensively in Peoria by 7.

Their win in Peoria also was definitly not a strong performance by Cox or Korver. Both are longer framed shooters, not having Warren will hurt in trying to control either of those two. We just do not match up very well with them especially if we go with SM, Ruffin JC Salley and Wilson. Actually I have no idea if we have 5 players that match up with them at all.

This game will be won on the glass but Drake is also so explosive especially when they get hot and make consecutive shots, we will have to minimize any runs, that means us making shots and playing tight defense.

JL could try and go bigger with a combination of Salley, Austin and or Singh but they would have to rebound and make shots and not foul. But he probably will have to stay smaller and hope we rebound like we did vs CU. Like every game though if we make shots we are in games if we miss them it will be like Indy State only a lot worse.

Lets hope they all are looking towards the showdown at Butler on Saturday... I though dont think that is going to happen. With Warren this would have been difficult without Warren UMM well its going to be a challenge to say the least.

I have that same TCS big night feeling for whatever reason.

Also, it seemed like so many of those rebounds against Creighton came from a huge number of tipouts by the bigs (and also Crouch and Warren).. I wonder if that's a shift in philosophy that we'll see more of.

As simple as it sounds, we win on the boards i think we have got the game. Drake gets hot and can shoot the lights out, and I hope we can limit the 3 shot clock possessions by pulling down a rebound once in awhile.

I am with you but that is a BIG IF. Drake is an outstanding rebounding team. That along with turnovers will be the key.

Drake has mastered offensive efficiency (as BU did last year). ILstu shot 55% twice against them and lost both games.

They lull you into a false sense of security and then jump on you around the 5-10 min mark of the second half.

Hey, here's a great article in the New York Times about Drake

Well, if the spread is to be believed (who really does anyway, lol) Bradley is a seven point underdog. But with second shot opportunities off offensive rebounds and plucking a few down at the other end I think we can erase being seven point underdogs. I know i am not going to see a 45-25 BU rebounding edge, however i think ever a 30-25 edge will be enough to push us over that hump. It has killed us all season.

Even at the game on saturday, I know we were up by thirty, I know that the second lineup was in, however with about 2 minutes to go, 4 Bradley players were in the paint and ONE Creighton player got his own rebound, right under the basket 3-4 times and finally made a basket. Lets give them one shot a possession and make them shoot 60% to beat us.

A short handed BU sqaud good enough to pull out a W!

That's almost an understatement.

IMO This is now the first stretch (more than one game) of the year that we have proven (W vs known national quantity, convincing w vs Altman and a w vs a ranked team on the road) that we can win as a top 25 team should. Before these 2 games, we have teased that we might be top 50 caliber, but never put together a proven stretch playing this well.

Nice find, Tornado. Drake has one heck of a story this year and I'm happy for them but lets be honest, Drake is Bradley's little brother. We need to go in there and show them we're still the private school with the tradition in this conference.

That is a great article. I saw Pulliam at the game last night, and he walks around before the game and is greeted by everyone. It's a nice story, but I have been to Drake every year for the last 15 years, and I never saw him at the games until this year. I wonder if he just started coming to the games, or maybe just wasn't so visible.

Anyway, he had a different outfit on for the Bradley game. He had a wild-looking multicolored sweater on. It didn't bring much luck. Maybe he should go back to the blue leather sport coat they refer to in the article that they won 20 games in a row with.
