BU 60 SIU 71 Postgame

We new that this was going to be a tough game without are 2 staters; the students that were there did great but I would like to know why there was so few of them as it was senior night and ISU is not the only important game of the season; our players are playing way too many minutes because of the loss of Warren and Ruffin and it is going to be very difficult to win games in the tournament if this continues ; I thiught are effort was good and I hate to play SIU only because it does not seem like you are watching good basketball but more like a team that hand checks you to death and because of their reputation does not get called for all the fouls that they comitt as they pretty much have their hans on you the whole game.

Did Bradley really ever fully unpop itself in the last two games, or did ESPN just want something to talk about?

The W @ Drake was a golden ticket to at least enter the room.

The table was set up for a big multi-game statement, but we couldn't get game #1 to set it off. We were probably 100-1 to pull it off, but still.

Yes, the hand checking thing mystifies me. Many of Bradley's fouls were called for apparent use of hands, but every SIU defender, hand-checks constantly on every possession, and it never gets called.

If anyone doesn't think that gives the defense a tremendous advantage, you've never played the game. By the use of the hands and forearms, the defender can use the momentum of the offensive player to help his shift and keep right up on top of the offensive guy. It was almost impossible to get an open shot, and it's not because SIU is quicker than BU, it is solely because they are allowed to use the hands and forearms excessively.

By the way, did anyone see why the fan was escorted out of the arena? It was a certain poster here. I never saw him do anything wrong, but he must have annoyed the wrong people too much! :)

The Braves played incredibly hard....just outmanned tonite

SIU totally wore us down and there was nothing we could do about it.

SIU impresses me with their defense....their bigs are very physical and very fast...they recovered so fast when they trapped out front and never got burned. SIU always had hands up....and had deflections all the time.

You guys may not like Mullins but he is a defensive stud.

Great game by JC...

Good to see DR at the end and the response of the fans.

I still like CLo as a coach

Snell, CB, and Stowell thought the refs called a great game.....personally I thought SIU played incredible defense

I'll tell you what... great effort by the guys. I hate losing to Southern because Mullins is the dirtiest player in the MVC. That guy should foul out of every game after five minutes. If Ruffin could defend with his hands like Mullins does, he'd be hands down completely unbeatable on D. I just really don't understand why Handcheck U can get away with it, game in and game out. It completely baffles me, every single time.

Anyway, I thought everyone played hard, just some shots didn't foul and we were missing a couple of our best offensive players. Sad to see it go like this, but proud of Ruffin, Crouch, and Salley for their comments and efforts.

I agree, there wasnt one trip down the floor when they didnt grab hold of the ball handlers jersey and they would call the touch fouls on our guys. I would love to see an official that know the rules of the game pay attention and put an end to the cheap defense. Lets see how they play when they cant hold onto the opponents.

Maybe someone booed Ruffin and he served 'em a knuckle sandwich

I didn't see anything either but there some people hollering at Falker from our section that got Falker's attention when he was scorer's table.
Was the guy escort from behind SIU bench..maybe too close shouting whatever?

I was right there and I believe he may have dropped the wrong word too close to the officer....

Good effort tonight, but we could not throw the ball in the ocean. We had a couple good looks and bricked them. As for the officiating, someone said it was officiated well and I am going to disagree. Maybe good officiating by "Valley" standards... But still not a real good game officiating wise. Two of the officials were ok, but there was one (He had the dark hair) that called a terrible game. And don't get me started on the one-sided hand check calls....

Just going to add a couple of things.

It was a nice effort but I think that we simply ran out of gas in the second half. The team looked about a step slow.

I liked the way that JC created some of his shots tonight.

Being down 2 players, DC needs to step up be able to play. (wishful thinking I know)

I thought we let SIU push us out too far on offense. We should have run some back door cuts to try to neutralize this. I thought our seven man rotation would catch up to us in a physical game and it certainly did against Southern. Salley backed off on one play as he couldn??™t afford to pick up his fourth foul at that juncture in the game. And JC??™s legs clearly were gone in the latter stages. One last disappointment and that was David Collins not throwing the ball down when he got in late in the game. He needs to make a statement to the coach; or not.

Yes this was a great effort by the team tonight. I'm still wondering if this game would have been a bit tough even with Ruffin in. This is far and away the best defense that SIU has played on the road this year. Of course us being shorthanded helped them out, but a great effort by SIU as well. They are starting to look like the Salukis of old!

On a side note, the crowd sounded great on tv! They did themselves proud on ESPN2 tonight. I hope ESPN televises a couple of more games from Carver Arena next season, and definately at our new facility in the future. I can't wait for that!

Considering who was available to play, and on short rest, I thought we played pretty good tonight. We played a good opponent, and I thought we fought valiantly but were clearly out of gas about midway through the 2nd half. JC did his best, but he isn't a guy that can do it alone. He deserved a better senior night, he really, really did. My heart goes out to him for such a poor ending to his home career. Again, I thought this team fought hard against a good SIU team who's playing it's best ball of the year. SIU just had the horses tonight, and BU didn't.

I don't know what's gonna happen with Danny, but I will stand by my statement that BU should have either let him play or told him to stay home. They didn't do anyone a favor by half-@ssing it, and in fact created more doubt as to what really happened and what the future holds.
