BU vs. CU 3rd time in 3 weeks again in STL

Looks like BU is locked into the 4-5 game now against Creighton. The game on Saturday now only controls what color jerseys we wear in the 2:30pm game next Friday.

Personally I'm glad that SIU and ISU are in the other side of the bracket. ISU is talented and SIU is playing their best right now.

Creighton has some good guards and of course they have Dana Altman coaching in what is sometimes called the "Dana Altman Invitational" instead of "Arch Madness".

The 4-5 game 2 years ago served BU well when they beat Creighton in a tight game. BU was down most of the game and if not for a good 2nd half rally, the Sweet 16 run would have never occurred.

It doesn't really make that much difference. We have to win the tourney to get in to NCAA and we will face teams that we can beat......we just have to play 3 great games.

How about the University keeps DR out another game... as it doesn't matter. Let CU get the white jerseys and give them a false sense of security... then Ruff is announced Monday he will play in the MVCT.

;)

It does make a difference.... depends on what side of the bracket you are on. And IMO, we are gonna be on the "softer" side.

ISU and SIU are gonna be tough to beat in St Louis.

I believe in how we are playing (esp with Ruff), I think we can beat CU and Drake in St Louis... that might just get us in a post-season tourney... and if we surprise all and win on Sunday vs ISU/SIU... we dance!

This matters in the following ways:

1) Keeping Creighton's faint NCAA hopes alive

2) Keeping our relatively decent NIT hopes alive

Being 4th oughta get you a postseason bid. 5th might not.

A tie for 4th but having to wear road jerseys and be 5th means out? With the knowledge of losses without Ruff during his injury and his suspension?

That must be one heckuva fine line.

Sorry - I take that back.

Losing at CU means a distinct 4 over 5.

But still.....

I truly believe we're a better team that Creighton...and I truly believe that we can beat them 3 times in a season. I want to be at our very best heading to St. Louis, win 20 games, and go to the postseason. All are made more difficult by losing Saturday. Let's worry about the MVC Tourney next Friday. Right now, I want to beat Creighton in Omaha.

I might be wrong but couldn't we still potentially play Indiana State first round? If we beat Creighton, and Indiana State beats UNI at home, that would make us 10-8 in sole possession of 4th place, and then Creighton and Indiana State would be tied at 9-9. I'm not sure how the tiebreakers work, but going into tonight Indiana State had was up 9 points over Creighton in the tiebreaker.

If this is the case, then I think it would definitely matter if we win or not at Creighton. I would much rather play Indiana State for the first round of the tournament than Creighton.

Good points.

I only wait for the updated thread on "Standings and Tiebreakers" as I don't know.

But, Indy St plays Mo St at home (not UNI). UNI goes to E'Ville.

CORRECT! A BU and INSU win on Saturday, and it's BU-INSU on Friday afternoon, and a much better shot at a date with Drake on Saturday (all due respect to INSU, but they just aren't real good away from home).

I stand corrected.... wow - if BU wins and Indy St. wins, wow - it would be BU vs. Indy St. in the 4-5 game. That would really be a good situation. Not that Indy St. is a pushover, but they don't have one of the all time great coaches on their sidelines. A real good draw if this were to occur. Go Trees on Saturday... and go BU - win in Omaha and let's get the 4 seed!

We also need Evansville to beat UNI for InSU to get the 5 seed. Creighton wins a 3-team tiebreaker with UNI and InSU due to their sweep of UNI.

Thanks Tulsa Brave..... I saw that on Valleytalk now as well....

So best case scenario for BU is to beat CU, Indy St. wins over MSU, and Evansville beats UNI. We need all 3 to happen, or else we definitely play CU in the 4-5 game.
