I hope news of Ruffin's reinstatement by the FEMALE PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY is forwarded onto Kyle Whelliston, the Chicago newspapers, ESPN, Comcast SportsNet Chicago, and anyone else who may have jumped at the opportunity to broadcast his suspension and to go as far as to call for the coach's firing. I think Ruffin's reinstatement and clearing of his good name should be given as much ink and airtime as the news of his and BU's demise.

Thanks for the compliment - Perhaps I will, time permitting. I have had to update Dave Telep at Scout.com the last year or so anytime we'd get a verbal (and the subsequently see the player's star rating drop), so it wouldn't be the first time I had to undertake something of that nature.

Where did Lyons say this? It doesn't surprise me, but I haven't seen it anywhere. The harassment charges will be harder to make stick than the batter charges. What did the girl think the public would do once they found out the truth (which took less than 24 hours)? What did the girl expect after speaking to both the newspaper and the TV station?
, didnt have the heart for beer.This is great news...and I am glad that it came out this early in the week. It will be refreshing to not have to play through all of the speculative "what if" scenarios on the board in the days leading up to the Creighton game.
Hopefully it also helps to give Ruffin some additional time to clear his mind and focus back toward the game of basketball...

Win or lose against CU on Saturday is not what matters to me, it's how they play and hopefully we will rest the players that need rest like JC. We were starting play great ball before DR was suspended. We now need to get to that level quickly again. JC probably needs to rest a bit and SM is probably hitting the freshman wall.
I'm sooooo happy that Ruff is back. This should give the team a big huge lift.

Lyons is the Peoria County States Attorney who'll likely be canned when his term is up. He has been notorius for his inconsistent charges from case to case the last few yrs. Case in point this past summer. Lyons hung a 15 y/o by the ropes and charged him with murder after throwing a cement block off an overpass that killed a passenger in a car on I-74. The kid allegedly didn't mean any harm but was still charged with murder. Well shortly after that the BU incident happened. No murder charges filed in that case. Oh man the outrage in the city, especially the black folk. So as you can imagine, Lyons lowered the brick throwers murder charge to involuntary manslaughter or some crap like that. I'm also sure he knows the implications if Ruff does happen to get convicted next month. Thousands of voters turned away. Gotta love politics.

Personally speaking, I think BU's (i.e, the President's) handling of DR's situation was so mangled, I am skipping President Glasser's visit to Dallas and taking a year off from donations to the school. I would prefer to see more decisive leadership in the future. The next time they can see my money is 2010.
