I just hope nobody takes his articles too seriously as they seem appear to be, at best, light hearted material written for entertainment purposes, not really the stuff of serious journalism.
His job is to stir the pot and sell papers, anyway possible! And obviously it must be working otherwise this thread wouldn't be here!

Many years ago, people used to buy newspapers to read opinions of columnists like Mike Royko (Chicago Tribune and Sun Times), and maybe even Rick Baker (Peoria Journal Star). They were sometimes insulting and obnoxious, but they were also thought-provoking and entertaining. But I think those days are long gone, and I agree that nobody buys a paper anymore to read just one opinion. or one column. There are simply too many other options available on the internet, including usually those opinion columnists.
If I had his class, I would be writing all my papers about Bradley basketball and it's rich history. Anyone here that has his class now?

..and dont you just love the fact that "Cowboy Phil" labels everyone with an opinion that is contrary to his opinion with the sentence:
" Another month, another episode of deep thinking via Random Ax of Snideness."
....and directly below his remark the column leads off with the Ruffin issue.
Look at the first two opinions from the readers. The readers are expressing an opinion without the least bit of sarcasm. However the response from "Cowboy Phil" is dripping with sarcasm.
I guess "Cowboy Phil" and the PJS thinks this will increase circulation.
