BU-Creighton post-game thread

Wow, that was a hard loss. It just frustrates me that we sort of gave it away on a Sam S. travelling call, and the only reason he was in there was because we had 3 players foul out. We had 3 or 4 chances to put that game away down the stretch, just really frustrating. That game took a lot out of me emotionally.

That was probably the best college bball game I have watched since Illinois/ Arizona in the tournament 2 years ago.

Well, at least we know we're a force to be reckoned with in St. Louis.

Go Braves!

Ryan

In a lot of ways, that game was pretty much the embodiment of our season.

Still time to end it on a positive note, though! Let's go get revenge in STL!

I thought it was a good game. Refs forced 2nd OT with atrocious out of bounds call, but otherwise called a decent game I thought.

Missed a layup?

Yes, we have had a lot of games like this this season where we should have closed a team out but did not (when Ruffin was healthy). OTOH, we did close some games out, Drake at Drake, IlSt here, but we have been so inconsistent all year, it's frustrating. But you are right Ryan, Creighton can't be too happy they are seeing us again next week, but you have to wonder if this gives Creighton more confidence next week too. I don't know. I've heard both sides of this on the message board tonight. We'll see what happens.

Just one other thing I want to straighten out right away before others discuss this. For those on the board who thought we spent too much time letting the clock run out in the OT's, just ask Josh Young from Drake why we don't rush shots in this situation. I think we did right thing trying to slow the game down at the end, we just played horrible defense tonight. That's what killed us, and the Sam Singh traveling call was magnified by occurring at the wrong time. This happens in this game. That's what makes college basketball so great AND so frustrating at the same time.

Hopefully we get things back on track Friday afternoon. It will be game, set and match for the winner! :)

Great college basketball game.

They are not better then us, they just happened to win the game. Who would have thought Witter would have gone off for 42 versus essentially Ruffin.

The rubber match should be a great game at 230 on Friday.

Tough loss but we had our chances.

I just watched the end, and the "travelling" call on Sam was a phantom call. I think the ref behind him did not see that he started his dribble before he moved the pivot foot, and thought it was a travel, when it clearly wasn't. I think the ref was also influenced by the crowd or the Creighton bench and gave them a gift.

Must have been a angle thing. I was listening to the radio broadcast on WMBD and they all seemed to agree that it was a travel.

What a game ... my fridge almost ran out of adult beverages. I enjoyed this one. In a way, I'm kind of glad BU lost. A win doesn't hlep them for an at-large ... but a loss will make them hungry to make a statement in StL.

Go Braves!

This loss is a good thing. A win would not have changed our opponent in the tourney and would have made Creighton lunatic like mad loosing to us twice and in a packed house on senior night and would have surely resulted in them beating us next Friday.

I think this loss will bring Bradley out next Friday for some pay back.

(I am trying to convince myself of all this, as I am feeling very depleted emotionally)

I think this loss hurt us BIG TIME it helped CU mentally and hurt us mentally CU will be going into STL feeling very good with this big win.

I hope this loss is like the loss to Drake.
Bradley came back and won the next one at Drake.

I agree no loss is good but if this loss is the one thing this season that hurts us mentally, then what exactly has all the other bad things that have happened to this team this season done to us menatlly?

This is a loss, a tough one but it will not mentally hurt this team. If there is anything this team has developed its mental toughness.

We take Sunday off and get back to practicing on Monday and get ready to beat Creighton on Friday. I have no doubts this team will not dwell on this game.

I also agree....hard to see any loss as a good one, especially when we have a five point lead with 40 seconds left in the first overtime!
